I only found 1 Olivier Preville, born 27 March 1845 and baptise 29 March 1845 at St-Gabriel de Brandon, Quebec, Canada. His father was Joseph Preville and mother Adèle Bélial. The godfather was Nazaire Baril and godmother was Rose Valois. I have a copy of the baptisim record on file. Olivie married Adélaide Matte(born 13 Aug 1951 is St-Pierre de Sorel, Quebec, Canada)her father was Jean-Baptiste Matte and mother Marie Forcier (they were married in 1842 at St-Pierre de Sorel), according to Ancestry.ca Olivier and Adélaide were married 14 Jan 1868 in Whitehall, NY..... I don't know who is Joseph father and mother, I am not even able to place them in my family tree, and I have more then 600 Preville in my tree. May be if you could found a marriage certificat or some kind of proof in Whitehall, NY, you will be able to identified the parents. I don't have acces to the US file, I am limited to Canadian recor If it is possible I would like to received all the decendant name so I could place them (hofefully one day) in my family tree. Myself and a group of Cottenoir/Preville have created a web site for the family, I am in the process of including all the Preville name that I have in my data base, it should be done by end of June 09. The 1940 census will not be available publicly until 3 years from now. If you have a US subscription to Ancestry, there are some local city directories for Rutland available in the databases, which has helped me. The other recommendation is to post on the Rutland message boards here too. There is also a site at www.rutlandhistory.com that you can join free and post on. If you don't have a US records access subscription, let me know and I will see what I can find. (via email) It wouldn't be a whole lot because records are not made public in some cases until they are at least 72 years old. Best of luck, Sara Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Tue. May 5, 1891. WITH THE POLICE. A West Rutland Man Hurls a Bottle at Conductor Dougherty's Head. John Groonell, of West Rutland, was locked up at the house of correction early last evening by Deputy Sheriff Fish on a charge of intoxication. He went to Whitehall on the 1 o'clock train, got gloriously drunk and returned on the train due here at 5 o'clock, which was over an hour behind time. Deputy Sheriff Fish was on the train, and but for his presence Groonell would probably have made trouble Conductor Dougherty. He had a few words with the conductor as he left the train at West Rutland, and as the latter pulled away from the depot platform Groonell hurled an empty bottle at Conductor Dougherty's head, but it missed the mark. The train was stopped and Deputy Fish took the fellow in charge, bringing him to Rutland. He will probably have a hearing in West Rutland today. DISCLOSED ON THE TOWN AGENT Harry Bancroft of Chippenhook got drunk Sunday evening, and for a time had matters his own way. He demolished furniture and aroused the whole neighborhood, it being understood that he abused his family. Grand Juror Fisk took Bancroft to the house of correction, where he was locked up, and yesterday Deputy Sheriff Whittaker took the prisoner to North Clarendon, where he had a trail before Justice J. B. Moore. The result was that the prisoner was fined $5 and costs for intoxication and $20 for breach of the peace, amounting to $39.02 He disclosed on the West Rutland town liquor agent, whose case will be investigated today. OFFICER ELWORTH'S ARREST. Officer Elworth arrested Henry Gavin last evening on a warrant charging him with intoxication. He pleaded guilty before Justice Mann and was fined $5 and costs. Gavin disclosed on John Caden, who was fined for selling and keeping. He took an appeal. J.B. Moore prosecuted the case. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby Genealogy not just a hobby, but a labor of love.
