I would very much like to learn anything at all about the Vermont origins of James M. BROOKS, who, according to his military records was born on 24 June 1813 somewhere in Orange County, Vermont. He enlisted in the US Army in March 1837 and served until 1867. In 1850, he married Anistasia BUTLER of Portland, Maine, and lived in that area until he died about 1897. Any information about his family in Vermont would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to share what I have regarding his many offspring in Maine.
