Jeanne, Thanks so much for your posting about the Pierces. As I said I know that my Caroline Pierce Whitney's fther was Amos and that according to VT cenesus records he came to Vermont from somewhere in Massachusetts. Do you have alot of information on Thomas of Woburn,MA ? Is there anything in the 30 pages that lady gave you that mentions an Amos or some part of the Pierce family moving to Vermont by any chance? Is Thomas Pierce in Frederick Clifton Pierce's book on the Pierces or did the woman get her info from another source? If so what sources does she use? I've read excerpts of Pierce's book online but since its only excerpts not everything is there one doesn't always find the person (s) they're looking for. I've been trying to get a copy of that book to borrow....I may get hold of it through the New England Historical Genealogy Society but have to renew my membership there first. Perhaps I'll find out about Amos in Pierce's book. If I'm lucky it will state that Amos moved to VT just like Pierce's book on the Whitneys led Fred Farnham Whitney who wrote about the Tunbridge,VT Whitneys to make the connection to Benjamin Whitney of Pepperell,MA and in turn made me be able to connect my great grandmother Zina Whitney Jones to them. It's so frustrating when you can't find the information you're looking for on a particular ancestor and thus are missing a piece or pieces to the puzzle. I hope that you'll eventually find Charles's parents, hopefully sooner than later. If I come across anything I think might help you I'll pass it along to you. If you see anything in your research on Amos, his brother?Hiriam or on Amos's daughter Caroline or his wife Caroline please contact me as soon as you can. I'd really appreciate it. I'll go to Family search and see if I can find this Caroline you mentioned though I think that Caroline was born in MA whereas my Caroline probably but not positively was born in Warren,Vermont.
