Hi Beth, I am not familiar with the History of Orange County you mentioned. The town of Vershire and Corinth are two distinct towns in Vermont, so each would have its own records. The state of Vermont did not require vital records be kept until 1857. Prior to that there are marriages in the town records, but list only the parties married and the towns they were from and the minister. Also in the town records there are lists of families and their birth dates, but they were not necessarily born in town. Hope this helps some. Janice
I really feel stupid, now! I hadn't meant to have highlighted the History of Orange... That's from Virginia and it's WRONG!!! What I meant was HISTORY OF CORINTH, VERMONT, 1764-1964. Compiled and edited by Town of Corinth History Committee. The Corinth book is the one that I'd love to have a look-up on. Thanks for your patience. Is anyone out there familiar with a book called HISTORY OF ORANGE COUNTY FROM ITS FORMATION TO THE END OF RECONSTRUCTION IN 1870 by W. W. Scott? I would like a lookup from it, if possible. Also, if a family was listed in Vershire VR between years of 1807 - 1830, does that mean that could have actually resided in a nearby village, like Corinth? What records might exist for Corinth from that era? Who would I contact for a lookup of them? Beth Bourque NICHOLS * KELLEY * SARGENT NEW EMAIL ADDRESS starting in MAY 1999!!! How can I help you with THE HISTORY OF CORINTH? Amy
I am searching for information on Edwin NEWTON and Sarah J. FARNHAM who were married in Topsham, VT in 22 Apr 1856. They are listed in the 1860 census and Edwin is recorded in 1862 as enlisting from Topsham in the Civil War. I have no other information until I find Edwin unmarried in New Hampshire in 1873. If anyone has information on what happened to Sarah and if they had children, I would appreciate the help. Thank you.

What can I do for you? I am a descendant of the Joseph you mentioned. I was born a BOND in Barre,VT. My father was one of 10 BOND children. I started doing the BOND genealogy about thirty years ago while I was living in Plaistow, NH, just across the border from Haverhill,MA. While my records are far from complete, I am willing to SHARE. How are you connected to the family? I believe I sent you quite a bit of material several months ago. Amy [email protected]
Has anyone done any work on the Bond line that apparently migrated from Haverhill Mass to the HaverhillNH and Topsham VT area.I am looking for connections with John Bond of Hampstead NH. I am also interested to know of any connection between Joseph Bond of Topsham and the present Bonds in Barre area. Charlie Bond [email protected]
Hello, Could someone look up in the 1800, 1810 and/or 1820 census index for a Zebulon Baldwin in Vershire, Orange, VT for me? James.
Peter S. Severance was born in Orange County Vermont around 1821. He may have been from Bradford as many Severances show up in the census around that time. Peter later moved to Franklin County, Massachusetts. He Married Betsy Weaver. Peter's father may have also been Peter. Does anyone have any information on this family. I am new at this and any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike Riley

Looking for any information on the Wilsons of Corinth. My ggggrandfather was Jesse Wilson, b. 1801 in Chester NH. I would like to find out when and where he died. His wife Hannah is buried across from the meetinghouse on the road from Chelsea to Corinth, but there is no record of his death and no gravestone. Some books on Corinth say he died in 1850 but I haven't been able to corroborate that. He was the father of John Wesley, George Washington and Sardina Furbush Wilson, my gggrandmother, among other children. Two of the Wilson girls married Farwell boys from Weathersfield or somewhere like that. Much of the family moved to Boston before 1860. Any cousins out there who know more about the family? Thanks. Francha in Denver
To All Whom It May Concern: The purpose of this message is to inform all genealogists & researchers of a very important web site that now has a searchable database of over 1,650 U.S. Regular Army soldiers who once served at the Buffalo Barracks between 1835 and 1846. Vermont was well represented. Many of these soldiers fought in the Florida Indian Wars and also the War with Mexican, and then the Civil War. It is without doubt that descendants of these men are most likely now in every state. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT: The 1840 Census of Buffalo, NY lists Colonel James M. Bankhead, of Virginia, and a total 'quantity' of 671 individuals, ranging in age from 1 to 60, as being under his command and/or responsibility. Unfortunately, the census does not list each of these barracks residents by name....only by 'quantity.' (ie. 426 males 20-30 yrs, or 34 females 20-30 yrs) HOWEVER, The Buffalo Barracks Historical Web Site has turned most of these 'quantities' into actual names. The list of these officers and soldiers (and some of their wives and dependants...see the Barracks Notebook section) are available, free of any charge. The URL for this outstanding web site is: [ http://www.buffalonet.org/army ] There, you will discover the "Descriptive & Historical Register Data of Enlisted Soldiers in the U.S. Army," for those who served at this federal military post on the Niagara Frontier. Also available is a wealth of rare and interesting information pertaining to the Buffalo Barracks and it's unique historic value. I encourage everyone to take the time to visit this site. Perhaps you have an ancestor who once served there? Enjoy your visit, Cliff Williams [email protected] [email protected]
