    1. [VTORANGE-L] SPILLER Chester, NH & Orange Co. VT --> ME?
    2. April King
    3. Hello, I am finding a number of IGI references [so obviously only leads] to the surname SPILLER in Chester, NH & Orange Co. VT, mid-late 18th century including a family group which appears to be my own line with children listed as “Of Chelsea', Orange, 'Vermont” ... this is sure news to me since prior to this I had only found ref. to the family being in MA, NH & ME from this time frame. However, since, again based on IGI, if correct then at least 2 of the poss. siblings [unknown to me prior to this] of my Samuel Spiller seem to have m. and/or had family in Orange Co. VT, I think it worth taking a look at. HOWEVER, the material I am finding sets my Samuel’s birth at “ABT 1761” which is 4 years too late, 2 of his children are not included [though the other approx. dates are correct] and his wife’s name is given as Polly rather than Molly though her surname is given as Hunt which I have suspected for some time. I could rationalize all of this away rather nicely but I’m concerned that in doing so I will only confuse the issues. SO... has anyone researching families from Orange Co. VT or Chester, NH of the time run across any of the following Spiller families? [birth date for Samuel from my family records. (*) means it is NOT my research and so I cannot vouch for it! and of course the IGI should be seen as at least somewhat suspect!]. PLEASE do not just accept the below as correct... that is NOT my intention! Thank you! April Joseph3 Spiller (*), b. bef. 22 October 1732? [Christening date?]     Father: John2 Spiller (*), b. 3 May 1693 at Ipswich, MA     Mother: Katherine Waite (*) Spouse: Anna Greenleaf (*), b. ca. 1735? [no parents known]     Married 7 August 1756 at Newbury, MA. [m. found on line as at Newburyport but I think it should be as here.] Children :   1 [said to be their son, no absolute proof offered as yet] Samuel Spiller, b. 27 March 1757 [IGI says ca. 1761] listed as of New Boston, NH and/or "of" Chester, Rockingham, NH in var. records, m. Molly _______, ca. 1782?, d. 10 August 1822 at Palermo, ME, Pvt. with Capt. Wm. Barrows Company Rev. War; 7 children [5 listed in IGI as “Of” Chelsea, Orange, Vt. BUT prior to this I had only one child’s birth place as Meredith, NH; Samuel’s Rev. War service (“Of New Boston” his DAR listing is in the Patriot Index (Centennial Ed. part 3, p2758) with wife as Molly (Spiller) which I'm told means it is uncertain about her surname and I believe Spiller to be incorrect.) What I have from Samuel forward is VERY solid if anyone needs it.] [assuming my family records are correct there is a big gap between children here!]   2 [IGI] Nancy Spiller, b. 8 December 1763 "of" Chester, Rockingham, NH   3 [IGI] John Spiller, b. ca. 1764 [“28 Aug 1764 Chester Twp, Rockingham, New Hampshire”, IGI]   4 [IGI] Polly Spiller, b. ca. 1766 [also as Molley “26 Oct 1766 Chester Twp, Rockingham, New Hampshire ” ‘Polly’ may have m. “Amos JAQUISH ABT 1786 <of Chelsea>, Orange, Vermont” IGI]   5 [IGI] Joseph Spiller, b. 1769 at "of" Chester, Rockingham, NH [may have m. Dorothy STEVENS and has a poss. line in Chelsea, Or., VT IGI]   6 [IGI] Josiah Spiller, b. 12 October 1771 at Chester, Rockingham, NH [may, or may not, be the same man as m. Mary Rogers “ 6 Jun 1793 <newbury>', Essex, 'Massachusetts ” and left progeny in MA & NH, IGI]   7 [IGI] Hannah Spiller, b. 27 May 1774 at Chester, Rockingham, NH [could be more I haven’t found...]

    1. Re: [VTORANGE-L] TURNER - Orange & Windsor Counties - 1850 Census Index
    2. I am also interested in TURNERs in these areas, but have had very little luck in finding info. I have an Elizabeth TURNER born about 1818 in Randolph, VT. She is the daughter of David TURNER and Elizabeth RIDER. David and his family supposedly settled in Bolton, Quebec about 1800. Looking at Elizabeth's birth, it would appear that they moved back and forth across the border. Any information about TURNERs in these areas would be most welcome. Hope Lawless - [email protected]

I have TURNERs from this area, but I believe that they moved on to Quebec by 1800. I wonder if this might be a grandchild or grand niece.
