They appear, by 1870, on the US Census of the Town of Champlain in Clinton Co. NY, right across lake Champlain from Vermont. The father, Albert, was a stone mason and lived amongst folks listed as "working on railroad bridge," so I suspect he may have been involved in the stonework of an early train bridge across the lake to NY. I have located the birth records for all of the family members (all born in Quebec) except for the youngest, Narcisse/Nelson Bodah. According to census and marriage and death records, he should have been born in approx. 1868. Nelson is usually listed in census records as born in Vermont, and one of his kids listed him in their marriage record as born in St. Albans, VT. The family name was originally Baudin and sometimes written Beaudin or Bodin, then changed shortly after entering the US to Bodah. I am not really sure where to turn to try to find Narcisse/Nelson's birth record. When did civil registration of births start in Franklin Co. VT? Who now keeps them? Was it earlier in St. Albans? What Catholic churches might have existed then that might have his baptismal record? Any guidance or lookups (with source reference) would be much appreciated. The other family members were: Albert Bodah, b. 1834, St-Philippe-de-Laprairie PQ Domitilde Penanciaux, b. 1828, St-Cyprien-de-Napierville PQ Albert Bodah, b. 1858, St-Georges-de-Henryville PQ Joseph Medard Bodah, b. 1860, ditto David Bodah, b. 1864, St-Romuald-de-Farnahm, PQ Thanks, Dan Bodah Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
