Today I received an email from a man from a Barr line that may or may not be related to the line of Conrad Barr, and it stimulated my interest in him. The Saxe family genealogy states that John Saxe came to America with a friend. It has been a while since I did this, but I think that when I checked passenger lists for John Saxe, I found a John Sachse on the same ship with a Conrad Barr. The Saxe family kept records, and the 1930 Saxe Genealogy says that John Saxe was born in Langensalza, Germany, which is now known as Bad Langensalza. I don't know when or where John Saxe met the friend who immigrated with him, but I suspect that Conrad Barr was that friend. Don't take my word for it, though. Check passenger lists for Philadelphia circa 1750 and make you own best guess if Conrad's line is of interest to you. It might be possible to learn more by using recor! ds such as the church records for Langensalza or records for Weavers in Philadelphia. John's wife Catherine Weaver is said to have been born in Philadelphia to German parents in 1744 if I am remembering my information from the genealogy correctly. Someday I would like to learn more about my Weaver ancestors. Kirsten Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
