I am having some major confusion about a town that my ancestor settled in. Can anyone tell me if a town that was originally called "Keyes Falls", then later "Potter's Falls" is now the town of Highgate Falls? A 'cousin' sent me some pages form the "The Vermon Historical Gazetteer", Volume II, page 272, it reads: "ANDREW POTTER one of the earliest settler, removed from Clarendon to St. Albans Bay, thence to Keyes' Falls, which were then naemd, after him, Potter's Falls, and for a long time bore that name; he built the first mill in town; his daughter , 14 years of age, was the first female in that section, she afterwards married Elkena Albee." Any light you can shed would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to find which cemetery that Susannah Albee (Andrew's daughter) and possibly her brother's Anson, Edward and Cyrus may be buried in. Andrew and some of the children migrated to Bangor, Franklin County, NY about 1807. On page 273 of the above name volume, Susannah is stated to be from the Congregational Church, so that might narrow cemeteries down. Becky Frank beckybea@juno.
