I'm trying to find out who Lucy McAllister's parents are. The only birth information I have on her is that she was born in 1821 in Vermont. One of my cousins said that she was born in Montgomery. Unfortunately, the Montgomery Town Clerk's office has no record of her birth or of her marriage (to Sylvanus Laplant -- neither does the Vermont Vital Records microfilm). The only US census data that shows her (by name) is the 1850 census: she is listed with her husband and her children in Montgomery. In 1851, the family moved to Sutton, Quebec (where she died on July 5, 1963). The family is seen in the 1851 and 1861 Canadian census. They had eight children: (1) Laura A. (born February 8, 1846, Montgomery, VT, died October 5, 1930, Highgate, VT) (2) Mary E. (born about 1846, Montgomery, VT, died ???) (3) Electra M. (born about 1850, Montgomery, VT, died ???) (4) Benjamin Rodolphus (born September 6, 1852, Montgomery, VT, died March 12, 1910, Sutton, Quebec) (5) Clarissa L. (born about 1853, Lower Canada, died ???) (6) Sarah J. (born about 1857, Lower Canada, died ???) (7) Nancy L. (born about 1859, Lower Canada, died ???) (8) Lydia (born about 1860, Lower Canada, died ???) The only other McAllister name associated with hers is Talma McAllister (who was a witness at her death in Sutton). We don't know if Talma was her brother or whether he was a cousin. We have sent an inquiry to Clan McAllister but they haven't found anything on her. If anyone has any info on who Lucy's parents or siblings were, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks... Jim Lahue
