> #1 [VTFRANKL] Franklin Co/St.Albans,V [Noel Smith <noelsmith@erols.com>] > >Hello Noel: Wish I could provide some assistance on Franklin County vital records and your family. I too share a similar ancestry. My great grandparents Alexandre Murphy and Mary Godard emigrated from Quebec - St. Jean(him) and Longueuil (her). They were married - apparently in St. Albans, VT in 1868 (so far unable to locate the record) and raised a family of 6 children there. Alexandre also worked for the Vermont Central Railroad. I have been trying to locate records from the railroad in hopes that they would shed more light on this family - about which I know so little. It is very possible I have relatives living in the St. Albans area, but I lack information on my grandfather John's other siblings and their descendants. Immigration records were not kept for entry into the US from Canada until the late 1900s - so there is little or no help there for us. I haven't been successful in finding lookup vlounteers to research the Franklin County vital records or the fedral censuses for the couple or the siblings. Regarding the ancestors from St. Hyacinthe, have you posted to the GenForums by surname and by region? or the Quebec lists? There might be help there, Noel. Good luck in your search, and if you find a way to access the railroad records or a kind soul that does St. Albans area lookups please keep me in mind. Frank Murphy Mt. Clemens MI
