Searching for the Amyntus Briggs family Amyntus A. Briggs b. 26 Sept, 1802 to Josiah(Josias?) and Eunice Briggs. He was the 12th child, according to his obituary. Amuntus married Mary Osborne (or Smith) 21 Apr 1821. Mary was b. 18 Jan 1805 Children born in Fairfield: Philetta, David, Charlotte, Josiah, Isaac and Amyntus. The family then removed to Rome, Oneida co., NY, where 7 more children were born. Mary died in 1849 after the 13th child was born. Amyntus then married a second time, to Emily Jane Dunham. Three children were born at Lee Center, and then the family removed to Newport, Sauk Co WI, and had an additional 5. Amyntus A Briggs stated in one census that one of his "occupations" was "father of 22 children" Does any one have any leads on the family while in Fairfield, there seems to be little actual sources.
