Thanks again, Carolyn. I may just have to plan a trip to St Albans next summer, but I plan these trips in my head every summer and never make it. If it were a day trip.... but St Albans is just too far up there in Vermont. Someone else explained to me Town of St Albans vs City of St Albans, and then there's St Albans Bay, which makes me glad to hear from other people who have been there already. Mitchell Rich's marriage record says Mitchell Richard (or Rich) on it, Aug 17 1868 St Albans, unfortunately I only wrote down his wife's parents, will double check this record next time I'm at the Berkshire Atheneum in Pittsfield, which has VT VR on microfilm, some sort of WPA project, unfortunately not all VR are covered (My Mary Moss Carroll is not listed on these microfilm, although town clerk confirmed that she did die there in St Albans). Mitchell and Mary are listed in 1910 census of St Albans, names and details on children is hard to read on the microfilm I looked at. Rich, Mitchell head 68 b VT mason married 41 yrs Mary, 54, b NY parents born Ireland Charles, son -----------, son Fred, ------ ------, son Could not find Mitchell Rich in 1920 census St Albans, did find Mary Rich 64, widow, born VT parents born Canada, as mother in law in the household of Bert Plant, 30, and wife Cordelia, 29, daughter Doris, 7. My biggest hurdle is not finding a library that will lend microfilm reels of St Albans Messenger through interlibrary loan. I would seriously rent 1910-1920 just to find an obit on Mitchell. Even asked how much it would be to buy one microfilm reel of a newspaper, was told $25!!!! Ouch. Thanks again, will let you know if I find anything Rich in St Albans Jim Carroll
