Hi. I have been researching my Rich family here in St. Albans for a couple years now. I have Mitchell Rich born 1/1847 married to Mary born 8/1849. Children: Charles-born 1871, George-born 1872, Nellie b-8/1878, Fred-b-1881, Lillie-b-7/188? (illegible), Homer-b-7/1889, Willie-b-12/14/1869. Mitchell was born in Vermont, Mary born in N.Y. Mary's parents were born in Ireland. Mitchell was a mason. I got most of my information from the City Hall in St. Albans. Also some from census records at the library. So far I have not connected Mitchell and Mary to any of my family. My g-father was Edmund Rich, father Oliver. Hope this helps. Aloha Carolyn, If Mary's parents were born in Ireland there is an excellent possibility that the family is Catholic. I suggest that, if you haven't done it already, you contact the "Irish" Catholic Church in St. Albans, which was established in 1847. Their address is Immaculate Conception Church, 45 Fairchild St., St. Albans, VT 05478. The week before last I spent a delightful week in St. Albans researching my French-Canadian genes and found all of the Catholic Church secretaries and city/town clerks that I met in Franklin County to be friendly and helpful. Get back to me for some other approaches if the contact with Immaculate Conception Church produces nothing.
