    3. There is no mention of a Constable in any county in "Vermont Place Names" or by doing a Google search. There is however a Constable in Franklin County, New York. I found it in the 1900 NY Census as well as the earlier Censuses. At one time prior to Vermont becoming a state a part of NW Vermont was claimed by New York. At that time I believe that Franklin County in NY and VT were considered by some to be all one large County. That may have led to the confusion. I am relying on an old and somewhat fuzzy memory so the details are lost.
