Fonda was a BIG figure in the St. Albans area in the late 1800's. There is a village by that name between St. Albans and Swanton. Newspapers of the era (St. Albans Messenger) that I have reviewed (for our own ancestors)always carried ads for Fonda's coal, building materials, line. etc businesses. He was also a builder, and built several rental units on Messenger Street in which one of ancestors lived for awhile. The 4-volume biographical book "The Vermont of Today" published in 1929, has quite a write-up on W.B. Does anyone know if the actor Peter Fonda was a relative??
