VT didn't really start recording birth, deaths and marriages until sometime between 1850 and 1860 although I've found quite a few isolated instances of records back as far as 1800. They are not available online. The State of Vermont keeps microfilmed copies of all the records in the state repository in Middlesex, 10 miles west of Montpelier. There is also a copy of records before 1904/08 in Manchester NH. The microfilm was made from mostly handwritten copies of the originals that were transcribed onto file cards. I've found a few that were different than the original record held in the town offices. If you know the name and approximate date, the office in Montpelier will look it up and send you a copy for a fee. I've heard them taking orders over the phone when I was there. Not sure what the fee is. If you are there yourself, its $2 per copy. I would expect there to be an additional handling fee if you phone or write. Divorce is same place. > -----Original Message----- > From: RICHARD CARTER [mailto:rcar37@prodigy.net] > Sent: Thursday, February 03, 2000 10:44 AM > To: VTFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Maro Virgil Bingham > > > Seeking information on Maro Virgil Bingham, son of Solomon, > son of Solomon. > Maro born 6-18-1792, at Tinmouth Vt.
