EUGENE CHILSON, born 25 May, 1846 in West Enosburg, VT. Names of parents and siblings are unknown. He said he had one brother and one sister. Looking for any Chilsons mentioned in records/newspapers during this time. Around 1850, Eugene and mother moved to Hydeville, Rutland Cnty, VT and lived with "an own cousin" EPHRAIM BLISS (possibly related to Philip Bliss the hymn writer). At the age of six, Eugene moved into house of JEREMIAH WESTCOTT and was known as Eugene Westcott until he enlisted in Cavalry at age 15 under his own name. His best friend was SAMUEL P. CURTIS. In 1870, Eugene moved to Iowa and married Helen Price Staples then Flora A. Boyd. I "think" Eugene's mom was a Bliss, sister to Ephraim, and she married Westcott, but don't have any facts to support the hypothesis. Any links will be aggressively pursued :) Thanks, Colin Brooks
