    3. The spring meeting of the Genealogical Society of Vermont will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at the Putney Inn in Putney, VT. Registration, coffee and goodies will start at 9:00 a.m. The business meeting will begin at 9:30 with the first speaker at 10:00. The first speaker will be Bill Budde from the Bennington Museum Library, speaking on "Using the Genealogical Proof Standard: Two Manchester, Vermont Case Studies." Following Bill will be Jean Nudd from the National Archives Branch, with a presentation on "Archival Research Strategies." We will then have a luncheon. The afternoon speaker will be Charles Marchant of Townshend and the Vermont Old Cemetery Association, speaking on "Frustration and Agony: The Search for Commodore Bush, A Vermont Black Man in the Civil War." Charlie is researching the soldiers from Townshend who served in the Civil War and found this man. The cost for this meeting will be $18 for members of the GSV and $20 for non-members. Everyone is welcome! Please make your reservation by April 22, 2006, by mailing your check payable to GSV, to Mary Pat Brigham, 66 College Street, Montpelier, VT 05602. From southbound I-91, get off at Exit 4 (Putney), head north on U.S. 5, then loop back over I-91 at the next right turn.
