    3. Good Afternoon, I am looking for any information on the Richard GROSVENOR family of Fairfax, Franklin County, VT. We feel reasonably sure they had relocated to Stockton, Chautauqua County, NY ca.1830. This families name has been misspelled more often than one can shake a stick but common spellings include GROVNER, GROSVENER, GROVINIR and a quite a few other misspellings that we know of. Richard GROSVENOR was a son of Theophilus GROSVENOR and the grandson of Leicester GROSVENOR, JR. Theophilus GROSVENOR died in 1808 and is buried in Fairfax, Franklin County, VT. Richard GROSVENOR married a Rebecca GLOYD about 1790, possibly in VT. Names included in this GROSVENOR list include a Nathan GROSVENOR (b.1796 in VT), Alanson or Launson GROSVENOR, (a possible twin of Serepta, b.1800 in VT) Serepta GROSVENOR (a possible twin of Alanson, b. 1800 in VT), Clarissa GROSVENOR (b.1793 in VT), Richard GROSVENOR (the father, b. 1765, CT) and Rebecca Gloyd GROSVENOR (the mother, b. about 1770, possibly in CT). The whereabouts of this family from ca. 1810 to ca. 1830 are a mystery. The last time they are picked up on a US Census is the 1800 Fairfax, Franklin County, VT census. Also during this period (1810-1830) Nathan GROSVENOR married a Catharine "M" (b. 1799, possibly in NY) of which we know nothing about but she would later describe her profession as being a nurse so her father may have been a MD. According to some sources the father, Richard Grosvenor, is buried in Stockton, Chautauqua County, NY but we cannot find any record of his burial so he may have been buried in Canada or some where else. We do know that Nathan died in 1846 in McLean TWP, Shelby County, OH and is buried there. We also know that Catharine, Nathan's wife, died in 1883 and is buried in Latty TWP, Paulding County, OH. We also know that Nathan was raised Methodist in VT but by the time he, Catharine and their children got to Shelby County, OH they were Dutch Reformed. We have no idea concerning the reasons for this new religious affiliation. Nathan and Catharine's children include Hiram GROSVENOR (b. 1829), Cyrus GROSVENOR (b. 1830) and Lucy GROSVENOR (b. 1832). There were several other children but have no idea where the were born. All would later state they were born in NY state but no record of their birth has been found. If you can provide any information on this family, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance John R.
