    3. According to GOOGLE, Chicago and Minnesota were the prime areas Swedes settled in in the 1880s to 1920s. I am seeking an AUGUSTA SYLVIA LARSON, born 1885, Goteborg, Sweden, immigrated before 1903, and married an ARTHUR CHARLES BINGHAM, perhaps in Minnesota or Chicago. Where married not known, but, do know that the couple settled in Vermont, and had at least 3 children. Margaret,(Daisy) 1905, Roland, 1907, and 1 other... The couple separated about 1912 in St Albans Vermont, and presumably divorced. From there, I believe that she moved to Chicago, and perhaps remarried. Any information on her would be appreciated greatly... ------------------ Dick Carter [email protected]

The probably died 1832 or 1833, or close to that time frame. I appreciate any assistance. They probably do not have a tombstone marking their grave.

    1. Sherwood Sanitorium
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bemis Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAC.2ACI/2127 Message Board Post: In the 1920 US Census there is at least one page, perhaps more, which has "Sherwood Sanitorium" written, on a line labeled "Name of Institution." This line is at the top of the page of the 1920 census. Everything else about the page looks like all the other 1880+ census pages I've viewed and it appears that everyone on that page lives on Main St., which I understand is where the Sherwood Sanitorium was located. My questions are: 1) What kind of sanitorium was Sherwood? 2) Why would it have been specifically identified under "Name of Institution" on a census page when everything else on the page looks like every other page I've searched in the 1920 census? I've researced this as much as I can in present day St. Albans, via telephone since I live in the western US. Thus far I've gotten theories and "I have no idea" 's. I would welcome any solid information, or theories, or ideas, or anything, regarding the Sherwood Sanitorium which existed in St. Albans, VT., on Main St., from ???? (I'm guessing late 1800's) through 1920 until 1940 or later. Thanks ahead of time. I look forward to hearing from anyone who has any information or theories or ??? Faye

Thank you for such speedy response. I will give you what information I have. I will photocopy some of the records.. If you are interested in having them. I note that your information regarding Isaac states he was married at Concord Mass, 12, January 1797 to a Grace Whiting and died in 1807. I really was thrown by this information for years but finally came to the conclusion that this Isaac was a "cousin" and not my Issac that was a brother to your Noyes. I have the land records from Fairfax, Franklin County, VT indicating that Isaac purchased land from his brothers Abijah and Nat Stone 100 acres - this was 20, August 1797..and witness to this deed is a David Tracy who was his future brother-in-law. He married Eunice Tracy 17, February 1802 in Fairfax, VT. He was in Pittsfield sometime between 1808 - 1820 because he has a sheep marking registered there...he removed to Ohio and then to Indiana. He died 29 March, 1848. In April 1848! his family - sons Nathanial and David along with his wife Eunice left Indiana by wagon train and headed to Oregon. Eunice died on the Oregon Trail. In 1854 another son, Noyce and a daughter Mary joined the other Stones in Oregon.

All I have on him is Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 07/26/1894 Philo Platt(1812 - 22 JUL 1894) died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Adams, in the town of Weston, Sunday, July 22, 1894, at the age of 82. Mr. Platt was born in N.Y. and came to Loyal in 1867. His remains were brought to this city on the 1 p.m. train Tuesday, and were taken to York Center, where the funeral services were conducted from the M.E. Church by Rev. Foster. His wife Polly died June 21, 1886 Neillsville, WI My ancestor came from France, lived in Maine and Vermont and had 8 children Robert 1824, benjamin, Mary, Judith, Eunice, James, Alanders, & Joshua. My ancestor Robert remained in Franklin Co VT and had 11 daughters (poor man!) The rest of his family moved on to Waukesha Co.Wisconsin . There was another family of Platts in Swanton, VT just across from Plattsburgh, NY that originate - if I remember right- from Middle(town) Connecticut. Middle something anyway just south of Hartford. I know that in the 1880 census your Philo said his father was born Vermont and mother CT.
