Nelson and Florence (Donaldson) Lahue owned and operated a farm here many years ago. Across the corner, Julius Lahue (who left his job as motorman on the electric cars), purchased the small farm formerly owned by the Beals' family. Shortly after World War II, it was acquired by Leslie Roberts who farmed there several years. It is now owned by Leslie Roberts who farmed there several years. When Melissa and Henry Beals farmed their land from about 1870 to 1920 Melissa augmented the family income by taking in summer boarders who desired a country vacation from the city. She gathered her ingredients locally and bottled a brew called Mrs. Beals' Rheumatic Bitters, and sold it throughout the country.
