It is in the same area as the Catholic Church. I believe it is Saint Marys. If this is not the proper name, please let me know of the correct one. I need to call them. I was there this past August and located my Great Grandparents and some other names that tied into my Giroux Roots.

Surnames: Quigley Sheridan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAC.2ACI/2154 Message Board Post: Hello, I am trying to figure out some puzzles regarding my grandmother and her parents. Her name was Margaret G. Quigley. Born <somewhere> in Vermont aroung 1907. She had a number of siblings, including Eugene and possibly James that may have been born in County Donegal, Ireland. Her mother was Margaret (nee. Sheridan) Quigley. I am not sure what her husband's name was. This is part of my confusion. I have TWO Mrs. Quigleys and I am not sure which one is my ggranmother and which one may be my great aunt? or just a cousin? I have letters from a Mrs. Eugene Quigley, referring to her late husband "Owen".(I know this also means "Eugene") from Donegal - Ballyliffen, Ireland. They were living in NY city 1886 -> >then I have a letter from the same address from Mrs. Margaret Sheridan Quigley around 1920. I am wondering if SHE is my ggrandmother, and she was living with her sister-in-law??/ Does anyone know of this family? Maggie Sheridan? Her husband________Quigley? ANY info or leads would be appreciated. Thank you! Suzanne

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAC.2ACI/2153.1 Message Board Post: Grades 1-8 were taught together in a one room school. Some locations went to 8th grade. In rural areas working was normally the priority over school children remained home to work the fields during harvest and sowing time. Sons were more likely to be educated through the 8th grade so they could make a living in the future. Daughters, in most cases, had a very rudimentary education as learning to run a home was their priority. Teachers were often no more than 15 or 16 themselves. They usually boarded with local families. I don't know when the boys learned their trades vs school. I would think that would depend on the trade. Future blacksmiths, for instance, would apprentice out in their teens and apprentice until they came of age. Wealthier families would educate their children more extensively.

    1. COLLETTE/TETREAU

    3. Hoping to find the parents of Emilie "Milly" TETREAU born about 1823 in Canada, she married Joseph COLLETTE. 1850 US Census has the family in the following household in Berkshire VT; Carow Peter 26 b. Canada Agnes 17 b. Canada (Peter's wife) Collette Joseph 30 b. Canada Milly 27 b. Canada Joseph 2 b. Vermont Mary 7 b. Vermont John 1 b. Vermont I think Emilie "Milly" Tetreau and Joseph Collette married about 1842 in Sutton PQ - many of their chidlren are baptised there before they moved to Berkshire VT. Emilie must have died before 1870 as she is not listed with her husband and family in that census and they are now living in Richford VT. I know that Joseph Collette's father was Joseph Collette, and the latter was the son of Barthelemy Collette and Ronet Hubau Deslongchamp, and, Joseph jnr's mother was Charlotte Shorbal Laurent daughter of Joseph Laurent and Josette Juaire. Any info on Emilie "Milly" appreciated, thanks Janice

    3. I'm not able to do a look up for you, but you might want to check out this site - www.findagrave.com I saw surprised to find some Lapan listings from St. Michael's in Brattleboro. I don't know what other Vermont cems they have, but it might be worth a look. I think I saw a place on that site where you can request a photo, although this is not a good time of year for that, so hopefully someone will have another resource to look at in the meantime. 3. Thanks for the information, I believe the cementery that the MERCIER is buried in the Catholic Church sat to the right of it off a small street which was a larger street leading off Maple Rd. My HEFFLON relatives are in the old cemetery back right hand corner off Maple Road. So when I was looking at the cemeteries I was surprised to find the name MERCIER which is my maternal side. Jane HEFFLON of Franklin married John BOYD in the 1850"s I believe and she and John are buried in Hyde Park, VT. I will e-mail you privately as I have some additional questions I wanted to ask you about researching in that area. Henryville is about an hour and a half from my home in Vermont, and I plan to make a trip there in the hopes of uncovering further information. Thanks again for puttin together such a wonderful website. I am still pouring over the pages I printed out and have found them very helpful in learning how to navigate through the complexities of researching family ties in Quebec. Have a great day!
