    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAC.2ACI/2158 Message Board Post: I am searching for information concerning Marion Louisa Prime, born 1862, NY, and her brother Horatio H. Prime, born 1857, NY. They are both listed in the 1880 U.S. census for St. Albans, Franklin Co., VT. They were living with their parents, Leverett and Sarah (Fish) Prime. By 1900 Leverett and Sarah were living in NY with his sister. I have not found the whereabouts of Marion or Horatio after 1880. I am assuming that they married in Franklin co. but I can find no record. I did find that a Horatio Prime moved around the New Haven, CT. area but in the 1908 city directory for West Haven, CT it said that he removed to VT. Anyone who might have anything on these two siblings it would be appreciated. Thank you Martin Lawlor

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pAC.2ACI/2157 Message Board Post: I need some kind person to photograph two headstones for me in Buck Hollow Cemetery, Fairfax. One is John Edmund Leach, born Oct 3, 1931, died May 29, 1982. The other is Nancy Emerson Leach, born Aug 26, 1930 and died in December 2005. I am fairly certain she is not buried there and there probably won't be a death inscription on the stone. They were my aunt and uncle. Their headstones are inscribed with their ancestry and should be fairly easy to pick out as they are quite tall. I would be so grateful if someone could do this for me. Thank you, Leslie

    3. Hello I am looking for the parents of Morris or Maurice TURCOTTE. He is listed in the 1880, 1900 census in St. Albans, Vermont with his wife Delia Phelps and children. He is then found in the 1910 and 1920 Pawtucket, RI census. The census lists him as born in Canada. According to census dates, he was born between 1848 - 1852. If there is anyone on the list researching this family or has any resources that could provide additional information, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you for your help. Sharon

    1. RE: [VTFRANKL] WALKER, KIDDER, ELLSWORTH, LEARNED, 1800 1880 Franklin VT
    2. Alger and Walcott Family
    3. Colleen -- Here are some bits and pieces. Cindy Walcott According to Esther Swift's Vermont Place Names the town of Mt. Tabor, in Rutland Co., VT had a village within it formerly called Brooklyn. Mt. Tabor is adjacent to Danby. Having said that, there were Walkers early in Brookline. The town was created in 1794 and a Thomas Walker w constable and collector. There is also a reference to Franklin Walker. At the time of the 1800 census, Thomas and Jesse Walker were heads of household in Brookline. There does not appear to be an Amasa Walker head of household in Vermont in 1800. As you may already know, the 1880 census indicates that Willard Walker's father was born in VT and his mother in NH. At that time, the household members were Willard, age 82, born VT; Susan age 78, born VT and daughter Edith, age 28, born in VT. Susan's parents were both born in CT. The following are from Gazetteer of Lamoille and Orleans Counties, VT.; 1883-1884, Compiled and Published by Hamilton Child; May 1887,transcribed by Tom Dunn at http://www.rootsweb.com/~vermont/OrleansJay.html "The next built was a saw-mill erected by Ithamar Hadlock, on the Cook brook, just below the present dam. The precise date cannot be ascertained, but was about 1830. Hadlock sold Ebenezer Brewer a half interest, April 16, 1835, and the whole interest June 22, 1838. Brewer sold to Solomon Sheldon, March, 18, 1839, and he in turn to Willard Walker, September 25, 1841. Walker, although one of the leading men of the town, had but little respect for the Sabbath and did most of his sawing during low water time in the summer on that day. It was so rare for him to saw on a week day, that when he did so once, a neighbor's little girl went to the mill and inquired of Mr. Walker if it was Sunday. Walker sold the mill to T. M. and Josiah Caswell, February 26, 1857, and they sold to S.D. Butler, March 10, 1858." "On the west side the business is carried on by L.D. Hazen, and formerly Kimball & Co. Willard Walker, born in 1798, came to Jay from Fletcher, Vt., in 1841, becoming a prominent man in town affairs. He held the office of town clerk 16 years in all, was representative four terms, and a member of the constitutional convention in 1850. He also held various other town offices and was postmaster during Lincoln's administration. He had one son, GilbertD., who now lives in Albany. In 1873, he moved to Newport Center and died there in 1880, aged 82 years." "Of Jesse Walker, father of Judge Elliot Walker and Professor Versal J. Walker, I know but little, except that he was a farmer of moderate means and had the reputation of being a very worthy man. He was born at Newfane in 1778, and married Waity, fifth daughter of Deacon John Blandin, in 1820. They owned a 100-acre farm in the south part of Brookline, where he died in 1837, leaving his widow with three sons, Elliot, Versal J., Andrew Judson, and one daughter, Waity Jane, on this poor farm." http://www.rootsweb.com/~vtwindha/vhg5/brookline.htm Jesse is old enough to be a father to Willard, but apparently wasn't, unless he had a first wife before Waity. Waity was born in 1800 and did not marry Jesse until 1820. http://www.blandinfam.com/blanding/wmblandesc040001.htm#id3446 Thomas Walker of Brookline married Lucy Rice and had (at least)a daughter Lucy, born 1783 in Brookline. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/g/o/o/Daniel-R-Goodemote/GENE16-0 007.html -----Original Message----- From: Colmemom [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, February 17, 2006 10:37 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [VTFRANKL] WALKER, KIDDER, ELLSWORTH, LEARNED, 1800 1880 Franklin VT At t New to this list, I keep coming across conflicting information that frequently states: Both Jesse WALKER (no date) of Brooklyn VT, as well as… Amasa WALKER (1772) who married in 1797 to Sarah MILLETT (1777-1855) Is the father of the 4 children listed below. 3. I do not know from where this message originated but somebody must be looking for a place called Crown Point. Besides the one given there is a place in Indiana called Crown Point. It is famous for two reasons (1) Dillenger escaped from jail there. and (2) for genealogists it was the place to which young people eloped prior to WW! and for a time after. No I did not elope but members of my family did marry in Crown Point, Indiana.
