    3. You are right. The COCHRAN settled in Enfield Center, Grafton County, New Hampshire. In Vermont, settling first, probably, in Underhill, Vermont in the early 1800s. I would like to hear about the Vermont COCHRAN that descended from Jacob Cochran of Enfield. There are so many brick walls. jft From: [email protected]: [email protected] Date: Wed, 31 May 2006 14:43:20 EDT Subject: Re: [VTFRANKL] Silas Alfred Cochran

    1. Re: [VTFRANKL] Silas Alfred Cochran
    2. COCHRAN is a Scotch-Irish family name from Londonderry and New Boston, New Hampshire. I would look in the south of New Hampshire circa 1800-1850's for the family name. Much of Vermont was settled from families from New Hampshire in the 1800's. Your county histories and town histories can be great sources for your family genealogy. Heminway may also have info on the family in her books on Vermont history.

    3. Robert, Have you thought about searching for McCauley or similar spellings? I say that because I have an ancestral line (in a different time and a different part of New England) whose name appears as Callum in the records, but earlier it was found as McCallum, which probably was closer to the real name.
