    1. [VTFRANKL] Helpful Posting
    2. Debbie Carter
    3. Hello Listers I am thinking of something that would help everyone maybe. I know that the majority of us spend much time surfing the internet looking for websites pertaining to our lineage. So..how about if everyone posts what they maybe have found and they consider to be one of the best for that surname. I am reffering to a website that you depend on or frequently consult for updates and info on the surname. Also, include any website that you may have found that you feel is just the best as a searchable database. Please limit these to free sites. I am thinking this may help everyone, and not everyone has access to pay sites. Just place "Websites" in your subject line and list the websites and if there are any special directions please include them or make note of what these sites may pertain to. Thanks and I hope everyone has some really special sites for us. Debra Carter tara37@comsys.net

    2. Erin
    3. Dick, CD #118 is actually Canadian Genealogy Index, 1600s - 1900s. It is not specifically marriages. It is only an index of persons in various records. I have it and have not really been able to get much from it. In CD #118, and #403 (Selected U.S./International Marriage Records, 1340 -1980) Your Bingham/Larson, neither are listed. Sorry, Erin

    3. Hi! Would you take and look to see if there any "Brooks" in there? I am looking for a William C. Brooks and his wife Sarah W. McFarland - their son William Curtis Brooks came to Maine and said he was born to them March 16, 1826 in Franklin, attended schools there and in Canada. He said his father was a farmer. I wrote to the Town Clerk and Librarian years ago and they found nothing. This man didn't seem to want to discuss his past life - maybe a big dark secret lurking? Marion Brooks, Maine "David J. 3. I happened to see a copy of "A History of Franklin 1789-1989" in a local second hand store and purchased it. It has a good index on names so if someone on this list wishes me to check for references to someone in early Franklin town, let me know. I emphasis, this just covers the town of Franklin, not the whole county so unless they lived in town they are not going to be mentioned. [As Franklin is right on the border, I'm also posting this to QC-ETANGLO-L.]

    1. [VTFRANKL] Vermont marriage/divorce records
    2. RICHARD CARTER
    3. I have recently received a "No RECORD FOUND" answer from Montpelier on a request for Marriage (about 1902-1905) and/or Divorce (about 1912) record for Augusta Sylvia Larson and Arthur Charles Bingham. I was told the fee would be $14, which I happily sent. When I received the answer, the explanation showed that the fee was only $9 since they found no record, but, that there would be no refund of $5, or less.. I do not believe that that is a good reflection on the Vital Records office, although it should be a good money maker. But, be that as it may, is it possible that Montpelier would have no record, but, St Albans might, as I am fairly sure that the divorce was in St Albans. The marriage could have been anywhere. Is there a kind soul out there who might check in St Albans for me. Dick Carter rcar37@prodigy.net
