I have gradually been getting more information about my mother's family who were from the Franklin County, Vermont area. The name has been spelled in several ways. The early generations were RAICHARD or RAICARD. This was later changed to either RICKARD or RECORD. John RAICHARD b. 1781, d. 1856, Franklin (buried in Highgate, VT) m. Caroline BOYCE John's children included Delaney, Rebecca, John, Caroline, Peter, and Lott/Lot Delaney married Seth Warner HATHAWAYand Rebecca married Marshall Nye BEEBE. Both apparently lived in Swanton. I have recently found out about Delaney's gravesite in Swanton. Her maiden name was listed there as RECORD. Lott or Lot RAICHARD b. 1817, Franklin, d. 1888, Franklin (buried in Highgate, VT) m. Catherine JUDKINS, b. New York, D. 1910, Franklin children were: James E. RAICHARD (who served briefly in the Civil War and died in 1864), Mary, Charles, Hiram RAICHARD/RICARD, Leonard, Rosette, Laura Hiram F. RICHARD/RICARD b. 1855, m.1880 in Franklin to Ruth DAVIS b. Swanton, Vermont Children were: Raymond RICKARD, Harry RECORD, Edith RECORD, Ashley RECORD I have been unable to locate where Hiram lived or where he is buried. He apparently moved away from the Franklin area as his son, Raymond Franklin, was born in Brandon, Vermont. Three of his children: Harry, Edith and Ashley moved to Long Island. Raymond moved to NH. Raymond Franklin RICKARD b. Oct 16 1882 in Brandon, Vermont He married Ethel May CHASE and settled in Newport/Guild, New Hampshire. He was my mother's father. I would be interested in determining exactly where this family lived in Franklin Co. and their occupations. I would also like to know more about the Hathaway and Beebe families and other marriages in the family. If anyone has any connection or information about this family, I would appreciate hearing from you. THANKS! I have a Betsy Pickford/Bickford b. 12-Jan-1813 in U.S.A. but her first child was born in Fletcher VT making Franklin Co. a strong possibility for her birth location. She married a William Sisco and I can supply information on the Sisco line if needed. She could be a sibling to your Anna Bickford. > -----Original Message----- > From: Roger F Goodrich [mailto:rgrgd@concentric.net] > Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2000 2:26 PM > To: VTFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [VTFRANKL] Bickford; Gladding; Mc Nall; Aiken > > > Hi: > > For the Roll Call: > > Mirium GLADDING, b 1795 m Oliver GOODRICH > William MC NALL, b ca 1770 m Prudence SPRAGUE > Anna BICKFORD, b abt 1816 m Paschal WRIGHT > Thomas AIKEN, b 1786 m Mary BARNETT > > Any descendants of Hugh MILLER and Mary ROGERS > > Hit me... > > Roger > Tucson AZ > > > > ==== VTFRANKL Mailing List ==== > Please Use Your Subject Line Effectively, Do Not Recycle Them > > ============================== > Join the RootsWeb WorldConnect Project: > Linking the world, one GEDCOM at a time. > http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ > >

In regards to the Roll Call please do not send any postings to me personally, please send them to the list. Good Luck!! Debra Carter ListOwner tara37@comsys.net
Okay, this list is much too quiet. Let's have a ROLL CALL, beginning now (April 16) and ending Sunday night at midnight(April 23). To make sure that your posting just doesn't get the old "delete button" by most persons, DO NOT just type ROLL CALL in the subject line as many of those don't get opened. Put something like this: State or County/Name of Ancestor/any dates this way everyone WANTS to open it instead of deleting without reading!!:) PLEASE include the STATE(s)/COUNTIES and NAME for the ancestor you are hunting IN THE SUBJECT LINE, and give more information about your ancestors - including dates and migration and spouses' surnames - in the message part of your post, so that you can get maximum benefit from this roll call. Please assist with any of the ROLL CALL posts that you possibly can - if we all focus together these next few days, we can maximize our efforts for the benefit of all of us. I have a Charles Bushey b. abt 1880 St. Albans and married Rose Medor in Swanton in 1905. His parents were Prosper Bushey and Elvira Gregoire. I also have a Matilda Bushey b. 1859 in Swanton and married Edward Medor in Swanton in 1878. her parents were Frank Bushey and Emilie Greene. I have not attempted to trace the Bushey family as those two marriages were not in my direct line but the name Bushey/Boucher keeps cropping up all over Franklin County and Grand Isle. > -----Original Message----- > From: Debbie Carter [mailto:tara37@comsys.net] > Sent: Tuesday, April 11, 2000 11:47 PM > To: VTFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [VTFRANKL] Charles Bushey > > > > Searching for info on > Charles Bushey born probably around 1840 who married Elmira > LaCroix. I know I am opening a big can of worms but just how many cemeteries are there in the Highgate area of Franklin county VT. I mean ones that would have existed in the late 1800's,not any of the new ones. Does anyone have a good comprehensive list? Debra Carter tara37@comsys.net
Dear Vermonter's (or any who have done genealogy visits there), I will be visiting your beautiful state this following weekend (April 20-23). I'm researching the ghosts who birthed my Eugene Chilson in West Enosburg then brought him of age prior to the Civil War in Rutland County (Castleton,Hydeville towns). My long distance searches have revealed nothing, not even a wisp so I'm hoping if I walk his steps, I may stumble across a grave or record or two. (1) Is their a state repository of records for 1840-1860? If so where? I have the Chilson film from Vital Records so that's out. (2) Does Franklin county or Rutland county have a central genealogical orginization that may be open that weekend? (3) Does anyone in those specific areas have places to visit for newspapers, wills, deeds etc. I'm guessing that might be my only hope (except for the graves, of course). Thanks for any help. Some others on the sites may appreciate seeing the responses for future visits, but I will obviously take private emails also. P.S> I'm staying in St. Albans unless someone nows about a hotel in Enosburg :) Colin
