    3. I just signed up for the Digest in the last few days and was a little confused by the message that came back acknowledging the subscription. It says, "by default, copies of your own submissions will be returned." Does that mean that the "searching for..." material that I sent in originally didn't get posted in the Digests? (I had asked for help with Ernest and Hannibal Clarke.) Please get me straightened out. Thanks, Wyndham Clarke -----Original Message----- From: VTFRANKL-D-request@rootsweb.com <VTFRANKL-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: VTFRANKL-D@rootsweb.com <VTFRANKL-D@rootsweb.com> Date: Saturday, April 29, 2000 3:42 PM Subject: VTFRANKL-D Digest V00 #50

    1. [VTFRANKL] St. Albans Murphys
    2. Noel Smith
    3. Hi Frank, The folks at City Hall are really helpful in locating St. Albans records if the names and dates are right. Since Murphy doesn't sound like a French name, I assume they would have spelled it "Murphy." I had trouble initially searching for Rogers, since the family was really Royer/Rodier in French... I found records in those names, with dates, at St. Mary's church and Holy Angels church though and went from there. If your Murphy's had 6 children in St. Albans, you may find their baptism records in one of those churches as a starter. And in 1868, their marriage record (assuming they were married in Catholic Church) would have been at St. Mary's, since Holy Angels was built I think in 1873. I haven't started looking for railroad records yet, but I am on the Quebec and St-Hyacinthe lists. Good luck to you. 2. Noel Smith
    3. Hi Listers, My g-grandparents were Jean Royer/Rodier (John Rogers) and Marie Tétreau (Mary Tatro) who married in St. Albans in 1864 and raised a large family there. John worked with the railroad, and he died in 1901, but there is very little other information about him. His death record says his parents were Jean Rodier and Madeleine ----- from St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, but I cannot find out anything about them either. There may still be some Rogers descendants in ST. Albans, because there were 13 children in the family. Has anyone done research on this Rogers family, or can anyone tell me anything about this John Rogers? Thanks for any help. 1. [VTFRANKL] Murphy-Godard
    2. Frank
    3. Looking for any information on the family of Alexandre Murphy of St. Albans Vermont. Alexander was born in St Jean (sur Richelieu) PQ in 1848 the son of John Murphy and Esther Hebert. Alexandre married Mary Godard of Longueuil PQ in 1868, daughter of Leon Godard and Denise Colin. I have not found the marriage record in Quebec and am wondering if Alexandre and Mary married in St. Albans. I'm assuming they were married in a RC church and I have learned that there was only one in town in 1868 - Immaculate Conception (St. Marys). He reportedly worked for the Vermont Central Railroad as a mechanic. I have learned that Alexandre and Mary had six children: John Alexander b. 1869, Charles b. 1869, Emma b. 1876, Marl L. b 1878, Mary S. b 1879 and Samuel b 1888. If this connects with anyone, or if someone has access to BMD records for St. Albans, I would appreciate any and all information on this family. Frank Murphy Mt.
