    1. [VTFRANKL] Roll Call: Tracing from VT back to Quebec
    2. J. Lesperance
    3. Aloha This is in response to the Roll Call request. All of my ancestors entered the USA in Champlain Valley coming down from Quebec in the middle of the 19th C. My biggest problem, which I repeated yesterday, is in Franklin County. Until their "own" Catholic churches were established in late 19th/early 20th C. the French-Canadian communities in Franklin County and elsewhere on both sides of Lake Champlain were often administered to by Quebec priests or missionaries. I seek all possible knowledge about where to locate registers of Catholic baptisms, marriages and burials in Franklin County and adjacent counties 1800-1870. Thanks, Jerry Lesperance, Aiea, Hawaii

    1. [VTFRANKL] To Post a Successful Query for a Roll Call
    2. Debbie Jennings
    3. There have been many questions this evening as to how exactly to post a query for a list. The most successful I have found is to include the name of the person, and pertinent info such as birth, marriage, death, children, burial that you may have. Also the known locality of that person during a given time period. This all for identification purposes so someone can match up with it and help you. Something on the order of this: I am searching for John SMITH born 1798 in MD. He married Jane BROWN sometime in 1820 in Anne Arundel county. We think they migrated to Nelson county KY around 1825. They had 3 known children, all sons. They might be more. I can find nothing on this family after 1850 and they were in Washington county IN at that time. I hope this is of help to some of you who had the questions. 1. [VTFRANKL] To clear up the confusion
    2. Debbie Jennings
    3. There seems to be some massive confusion on the posting of the roll calls to the list. I am not saying that you cannot write to me with questions and such. What I am saying when I say, "post to the list and not to me personally" is that even though I am tracing various lines, I am not tracing ALL the surnames in the world. So in posting to me it only reaches me and if you want to reach the most people possible then you would want to post to the list. Since I am writing to alot of lists with this post please post to: Thelistname-L@rootsweb.com please fill in the list name that you are on. 2. J. Lesperance
    3. Aloha all, I continue to search for the marriage and parents of my g-g-grandparents, Joseph BLONDIN and Marie-Anne LAFLAMME, who raised a family in St. Albans and nearby Cambridge. Facts: 1. Their sons Joseph and William (my g-grandfather) were baptized at St. Mary's Church, St. Albans Dec 1858. Joseph and "Marianne" living in Cambridge at the time. 2. Son William m. Philomene PERRON, Holy Angels Church, St. Albans June 1881. 3. Son Joseph m. Louise CHARRON, Holy Angels, May 1881. 4. Daughter Delima m. Berton WHITE, Bedford, Missisquoi Co. Quebec May 1882. (Parents shown as deceased Joseph and living Mary-Anne LAFLAMME of St. Albans). Why did she marry in Bedford?? Was her mother initially from there?? There were other LAFLAMMES who traveled regularly between northwest VT and Missisquoi Co. in that period. Not sure of (no proof but have the info from another BLONDIN researcher): 1. Daughter Julia born 1851 Swanton, m. Francis BARDOCKE at Fairchild April 1867. 2. Son Myron born 1856 St. Albans, m. Louise SHAW May 1881 (location not given) Other info: The 1850 in St. Albans there is Joseph BLONDEAU married to Abigail with 4 of their children born VT, the oldest 9, and with a Mary LAFLAM age 19, born Canada, in the household. In the 1860 census this family is in Cambridge without Mary LAFLAM. Jerry Lesperance, Aiea, Hawaii

    1. [VTFRANKL] FW: GROSVENOR Family of Fiarfax, Franklin, VT
    2. Debbie Jennings
    3. Forwarding this to the list, please reply to the person below. Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time" -----Original Message----- From: johnrclarke_ga [mailto:johnrclarke_ga@email.msn.com] Sent: Saturday, July 22, 2000 10:54 AM To: debj@comsys.net Subject: GROSVENOR Family of Fiarfax, Franklin, VT I am researching the GROSVENOR Family, especially that of Richard GROSVENOR who married Rebekah GLYDE (may be GLOYD) ca. 1790 in Jericho, Chittenden County, VT. Richard GROSVENOR (1765-1838) was the son of Capt. Leicester GROSVENOR, Jr. RS and Esther WELD and grandson of Capt. Leicester GROSVENOR, Sr. and Rebecca WALDO of Pomfret, Windham, CT. According to my best information Richard's family moved to Franklin County, VT shortly after the Revolutionary war from Pomfret, Windham, CT and this family resided in this county until the later years of the 19th Century, Richard had siblings named, Theophilus, Resolved, Esther, Rebecca, Leicester III, Mary and Lucy. Major collateral families in addition to those already mentioned are the BLISS, CRISSEY and THOMPSON Families. Richard and Rebekah GROSVENOR whose known children are: Clarissa (b. 1793 m. Alvin CRISSEY, son of John Crissey, d. 1878 in Chatfield, Fillmore, MN), Nathan (b. 1796. m. Catharine M. <unknown>, d. 1846 in Shelby County, OH), Launson (b. 1799, unm, d. 1848 in Shelby County, OH), Serepta (b. 1800, m. Chester THOMPSON, son of Able, d. 1868 in Stockton, Chautauqua, NY) and Lucy S. (b. 1807, m. Alvin C. BLISS, d. 1839 in Shelby County, OH). The best we can tell is that Richard GROSVENOR and is family immigrated possibly to Canada and then by the late 1820's they are located in NY State. We know they disappear from the Franklin County, VT census after 1800. The next census entry we find for this family is the 1830 Stockton, Chautauqua County, NY and later the 1840 Springcreek, Shelby County, OH census. Where they were for the time between 1800 and 1830 we do not know. Richard GROSVENOR died on 12 Aug 1838 and is buried in Stockton, Chautauqua County, NY. I am especially interested in the family of Catharine M. (Katharine, Catherine or Kate) <unknown> who married Nathan GROSVENOR ca. 1825, probably in NY state. All we know about her is she was born around 1800, some say 9 March 1799, in NY state and she died on 1 Sep 1883 in Latty TWP, Paulding County, OH. She would later say she was a nurse in one census. She outlived her husband and all of her children. She may have been of German or Irish extraction and she stated she was born in NY state but this may or may not have been correct. She may have been born in Canada. She may also have had red hair, a deduction I draw from seeing the picture of one of her daughters. The known names of her and Nathan's children are: Hiram, Cyrus, John Allen, Wellington, Lucy, and Nina. Lucy and John are long time GROSVENOR names but the others are not. I can trace Nathan's family them from NY to OH (ca. 1840) to IL (1859) and back to OH (1870). The last few years of Catharine's life she lived with Rev. John W. EDWARDS and she is buried with the EDWARDS family in Paulding County, OH. Her husband, Nathan (1796-1846) is buried with one brother and sister in Walkup Cemetery, Shelby County, OH. If you have any information on this GROSVENOR family or suspect you know the identity of Catharine's family, I would like to hear from you. Thank you.
