    3. Hi there! Trying to build up the Vermont Tombstone project. If you have headstone photos - please consider putting a copy in the Vermont USGenWeb Archives. http://www.usgwtombstones.org/vermont/vermont.html You can upload using our submission form. http://genrecords.net/vtfiles/photos.html We are here to help one another. I have never visited Oneida, NY but found an important headstone in the USGenWeb Tombstone Project for New York. It told me where this my ancestor died. This is what we are trying to accomplish for Vermont. All the best, Chris

    3. B = Baptism M = Mariage S = Sepulture (Burial) I think 2000 was when the first version of the DB was available. It's very large and contains a great deal of information occuring in the early 1600's through the current date which took place in Quebec (New France). It was created by individual genealogy clubs and organizations in Quebec who contributed information for their areas. For this reason it is a bit spotty in it's coverage. Corrections and new data are being added with frequent updates so it is growing and becoming more complete all the time. Can be very valuable if you are researching ancestors in Quebec. It is available online for a fee, just use Google to find it. I am new to the list and am researching my Bates relatives. I am trying to find out more info on an Oliver Bates who was living in Brome, Quebec in 1863. His daughter, Naomi Bates, died at that time and it lists as her father Oliver Bates of Brome Quebec. Her brother Joseph Bates married Harriet Dodge in Dunham Quebec in 1811. I am a descendant of Joseph and Harriet. I am trying to prove parentage of Joseph and Naomi. I believe they also had a sister Ann and possibly a brother Stephen. Naomi married Joseph Persons/Parsons who was a witness at the marriage of Joseph and Hannah Bates, as was a sister of Joseph named Ann. Since Joseph was a minor at the time of the marriage in 1811 it means he was born after 1790. This is not consistent with records found which I believe to be of another Joseph born to Jonathan and Mehitable Bates in 1787 (anyone can see these are two different people by the dates). That info has been going around for years and I want to find out the truth of the matter. DNA tests do not match Joseph (who married Harriet) to the family of Jonathan and Mehitable. If you have any info regarding Oliver Bates or know where else to look or any access to the Drouin Collection or anything else in Quebec and can look up info, can you please do a quick search? I also looked in the genealogy book of the descendants of Gregory Stone and could not find Harry Stone. If he collected a pension for his Civil War service, you might be able to find some information about him in the pension application or the pension papers his wife most likely filled out to collect the pension after he died. Her death record says her father was John CUNNINGHAM? I'm trying to find if her mother was Lucy (FOX) CUNNINGHAM. She was married to Henry TYLER, b. 23 Nov. 1836; died in Enosburgh, 18 Mar. 1909. I don't know when they were married, nor do I know where they are buried. I've found one record that also calls her Mary Jane Cunningham. My great-great-great grandparents were John and Lucy (FOX) CUNNINGHAM, and they did have a daughter named Jane who was born around 1838. I'd love to know if this is she. The dates fit right. 3. Vicki, On the 1850 census in Derby, Orleans, VT, there was a Jacob Chase living next to a John Bullock. This Bullock household included Phebe, 10, and Sarah, 14. Unless you have already eliminated this Sarah, you might want to look at Derby marriage records. Brides usually married in their home towns, and marriage records often contain parents' names. Per the FamilySearch pilot website, there was a Phoebe Chase who was born 06 Apr 1862 in Wheelock Twp., Caledonia, VT. Good luck to you! 1. Re: [VTFRA] Enosburg or Enosburgh?
    2. Kathy Campbell
    3. Without a doubt, the town's name has been variously spelled in the past. The official Web site of the town, at: http://www.enosburghvermont.org/ says this: "Enosburgh includes the village Enosburg Falls and the locations Bordoville, East Enosburgh, North Enosburgh, Samsonville, West Enosburgh, and Enosburgh Center. Enosburgh was named for Roger Enos, who had been a commander of all the Vermont Forces in the American Revolution. He was also Ira Allen's father-in-law. Curiously the spelling of Enosburgh differs from the spelling of Enosburg Falls." That's what gets me every time - the spelling of the two - sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't just say Enosburgh for everything, and then put in the notes, Enosburg Falls, but that wouldn't be right, either. It sort of reminds me of Plattsburg, NY - sometimes it's spelled Plattsburg, and sometimes as Plattsburgh. Thanks. Kathy
