He must have been on the move! Reviewing your dates, this Icabod most likely married Catherine Beden, Daughter of William and Catherine "Kate" Sunderlin Beden. With luck you may find him grouped with other families with surnames Beden, Mitchell, Sunderlin/Sunderland, all early Fairfield names. I don't have any ancestry on the Beden name at this time but the Mitchell and Sunderlin/Sunderland names have at least one more generation back. I likely have more specific dates for you but I'll have to dig them out. Give me a few days. Seem to recall that there was a Lydia in the Mitchell family, dtr of Jemima. Will verify if I can. I suspected his wife's name would be Catherine in as that is the name of the only daughter I am currently aware of. He moved to Ohio between 1816 and 1822 where there were several Clawsons but with a much different migratory route. I suspect they are distantly related however and he ended up there due to the food shortages in Vermont. I would just dearly love to find him *somewhere* in the 1820 census! Beden first, had several kids. A subtle entry in G. Doane's book says he left town. Did they divorce? Likewise, a marriage in 1807 betw Catherine Beden and Ichabod Clauson, both of Fairfield -- is this a dtr of Wm. and Catherine or Catherine herself? Can find out nothing about this marriage either. The above is a quote from my genealogy program page for Sturtevant/Sturdevant. I believe Catherine Mitchell, dtr of Jemima, married into the Sturtevant family of Fairfield. I have always been curious about this Icabod Clauson. Can you send me more details about where he went from Fairfield and any wives and children names? 3. Hello to the person that has Maria Hemingway's History of Franklin County I wonder if you would be kind enough to look for the Alexandre Murphy family of St Albins in the 1860-1900 time frame. He reportedly worked for the Central Vermont Railroad and was an immigrant from St Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec, the son of an Irish immigrant and a French Canadian Acadian girl. Many thanks, Frank

I am looking for information specifically on Ichabod Clawson who appears to have been in the area from about 1809-1816, earlier if I can find a marriage record (turned 21 in 1802). As for general history, I am aware of the mass migration out of Vermont because of the "year without a summer" (1816) and significantly cold weather patterns for the time I can document him there so far, so I was looking for additional history of the time frame or up to that time. My ancestors are notorious for not appearing in history books ;-) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
