    3. Gene, thank you for the reply. I am researching the LAVANWAYsurname from my maternal line. At this time I have not come across OLIVERS or PERSONS in the LAVANWAY family. I have hit a brickwall at the Canadian border and I am looking for any evidence in or around Swenton, Vermont thst would hint a location in Canada. I do have a researcher in Canada who is working for me on this project. At this time we are taking a break. She requires a four hour retainer to start the research. Her hourly rate is $30.00 USA dollars. Her name is Denyse Beaugrand-Champagne and her e-mail address is [email protected] If you contact her, please feel free to use my name. GOOD LUCK! 3. Hi Mary, I, like you hunted and hunted for Octave ANAIR whose son Alfred married Elvina DEMARS. Alfred ANAIR was my great grandfather who died in spring of 1943 according to my mother. I am so glad the posting helped to get the information to you. I have sent this to Gary ANAIR whose Aunt Helen had done the genealogy of the ANAIRS and has told me sometime he will get it to me. I am sorry I don't have more information for you but maybe Gary will have some info. Harriet in NH ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, August 13, 2005 1:59 PM Subject: Octave Enaire, Helen Carignan Geneology Hello Harriet. I have just come upon some information that you posted on a Vermont Rootsweb mailing list, pertaining to the couple in the subject line. I am a decendent of the brothers of Helen Carignan.. I had been looking and looking for information on anyone that was a child of Francois Bourbeau dit Carignan and Marguerite LaBlanc.. I knew that they had two sons, one named Honore and one named Dosithee. I am a great granddaughter to both of these men as my great grandparents where cousins that married. Honore Carignan and Marguerite Houle had a son named Dosithee, who married the daughter of Dosithee and Josephine Broulliard Carignan. Her name Marie Olivine Carignan. For some reason when Honore came into Vermont he became Henry Currier.. thus I have had quite the experience looking for this family of three names.. My great grandparents and successive generations carry the last name Currier. Dosithee Carignan became Dustin Levi Currier Marie Olivine Carignan became Olivine Currier Now, thanks to you I have found that they had a sister that had a rather large family, as I find in the 1880 census on the LDS site. So, I just wanted to say thank you for posting this information on the Rootsweb site and show that it does help to have the information available. I have a few older aunts and uncles still living I will take this list of names with me when I make a trip to New York in the next couple of weeks. ( I am now in Minnesota) and see if they have any memory of meeting any of these folks when they where younger. I see that where you are a great great granddaughter of Octave, I find I am a great-great Neice of Helene. Guess we most be one of those shirt tail cousins, eh? I wondered if you had any other information on Helene's siblings, I have her family tree all the way back to Eli Bourbeau but have had a heck of a time with finding the children of Francois and Marguerite leBlanc. I find them in an 1861 census in St. Georges De Windsor , Quebec with what appears to be a family grouping of families but that doesn't give me the proof I need. Anything you might have on Marie Helene would be most appreciated. Thank you for the information that you did share.. Mary

    2. Janet Johnson
    3. Hi Listers, I am new to the list and would like to find someone who is researching the WELCH and DURGIN families. Benjamin and Thankful DURGIN WELCH were probably the parents of my ancestor Martha (Patty) Welch who was born in 1791 in Franklin County, most likely in the town of Franklin. Martha married Samuel Eldridge in Brome County, Quebec, when she was fourteen years old. I'm thinking that this means Benjamin Welch moved there from Franklin. Does this family ring a bell with anyone? Thanks, Janet Hobbs Johnson

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pAC.2ACI/2108.2.1.3 Message Board Post: Sarah About 5 years ago a lady asked me to do a look up for the name Risden from a book I have of graves in Fairfield, VT PRIOR to 1851. Among them are children of John Risden & Sally Stevens. Perhaps the parents were buried here as well. The following is from the posts done at that time. Inscriptions from Fairfield VT Cemeteries pre 1851 as printed in "Some Early Records of Fairfield, VT" Gilbert Doane, pub Aug. 16, 1938 by the 150th Anniversary Committee The North Fairfield Cemetery in Herrick section of Fairfield is near the Union Church Pg 47 Risdon, Daniel, s/o John & Sally, d. 27, July 1841, ae 6 yr 6 mos. 1 day [No. Fairfield] Infant dau. of John & Sally, d. 16 Mar. 1819, 11 days - [No. Fairfield] Infant dau. of John & Sally, d. 12 Mar. 1819, 7 days - [No. Fairfield] Matilda, d/o John & Zilpha, d. 20 July 1810, age 11 days [No. Fairfield] Polly, consort of John, d. 25, Mar 1827, age 38 yrs [No. Fairfield] Thomas E., s/o John & Sally, d. 28, Apr. 1850, a 17 yrs 4 mos 11 days [No. Fairfield] Zilpha, w/o John, d. 17, Feb. 1820, a 37 yrs [No Fairfield] Deborah Brodowski responded: … I had found that John Risdon had been married 3 times and fathered a total of 17 children. I only found the children of John and Zilpha (she was listed as 3rd wife but I think was first according to what you just sent) Anyway, These children are apparently some more of John's children. Still missing 3 by my count - I'm wondering if Nathaniel would have been a child of Zilpha and John - probably not possible unless not listed in the list I have. Do you know of any other Risdons buried this time period Vermont? Also, help me understand - any difference between "consort" and "wife"? Again, thanks so much for help. My response: First, a consort is the old term for wife. Relict was the term for widow. Not sure if this will add any new names for you or not... In 1850 census - Fletcher h/h 198 John Risden, 70, b.VT farmer, 1200 Sally, 60, b. (maybe something similar, definately L ___tia) 17, VT Amy L.,15, VT Charles, 8, VT Daniel,6, VT Merritt, 6 mos., VT (census taken 7/30/1850) Rachel Baker, 94 I came across this little note in the Vermont Historical Gazeteer, Vol 2 pg 205 [town of Fletcher]which might relate to your Risdons: "In the month of April 1850, 4 young men had been to a raising and were returning home through the woods. One of them, Thaddeus Chase, had a gun in his hand, and as one of the party Thomas Risdon was passing over a tree fence the gun in the hands of Chase (who was several feet behind) was accidentally discharged, lodging its contents in the body of young Risdon who survived but a little more than 24 hours." Deborah: Thanks for the information. I think this must be a child of Sally Austin Stevens and John Risdon. Sally A. Stevens is the third wife of John - he was to have a total of 17 children - thought one might connect to my Risdons - no luck yet but I have been collecting information on them. I have a Thomas E. b. Jan 17, 1833 and d. April 28, 1850. I think he is the Thomas buried in the Franklin County No. Fairfield cemetary. I will add this information to my collection.
