According to his obituary, my great grandfather, James Brown Richards, was born in Charlotte, Chittenden Co. Vermont in 1820. I believe his parents were John Richards & Charlotte Ward. I've never been able to find a record of his birth or any other information to verify the parents. I've contacted both the City of Charlotte and Chittenden County and they both say no records are available. Is there anyplace else I could look. City Directories? Tax Rolls? I'm in Arizona so don't really know what might be available there. Any help is appreciated.
