Thanks to all who provided information on Irish settlers in Chittenden Co. For Charlene and others, I can provide this little additional information on the Irish Settlement in Underhill. Loraine S. Dwyer's, History of Underhil, Vermont contains this brief description: "It wasn't long before settlement started on the northerly roads out of the Center. As early as the 1820's two Irishmen named Doon arrived in Underhill and commenced the settlement we now call the Irish Settlement. When they came, they found Timnothy Burdick already here and in possession of a large farm. Then, in a surge of immigration came Brewins, Carrolls, Dorans, Flynns, Marlows, Cales, Shanleys, Riordans, Walls, Connors, McCanns, McGuinneys, Greens, Murphy, Hogans and many, many more." -- ---------- From: CRodri9794@aol.com Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 14:07:16 EST To: whitem@aloha.net Subject: Re: Irish Settlement in Underhill Hi could you tell me a little more about Irish road settlement, Underhill. Is it in Ireland or US, my ancestors also came from Ireland and I have never heard of this settlement. Of course I don't know that much about Ireland, my area is Limerick and Co. Clare.
