Hi - My family is from western NY, but I can trace my roots to an Oliver ROUSE and a Sophia NASH from JERICHO, VT. Census documents in NY suggest that SOPHIA NASH was born around 1794 in JERICHO. Another NASH researcher has documented a SOPHIA NASH born on February 22, 1789 in JERICHO, VT to CALEB NASH and RACHEL NASH. and can trace this Sophia NASH back another 4 - 6 generations. I would love to know if my Sophia Nash and the other Sophia Nash are one and the same. It would allow me to trace the family back several more generations. The only other thing I know is that Sophia Nash married Oliver Rouse in 1814 and died in Gibson, NY on 4/12/1854. All I know about Oliver Rouse is that he fought in the Battle of Plattsburgh, married Sophie Nash in 1814 and moved to western New York where they had eight kids. He worked on the Chemung canal and was a pioneer in the area. He was born in Jericho VT on 5/22/1770, married in 1814 and died around 1860. I know the 1770 date sounds a little off and I am looking into it. Any help would be appreciated. Ted White
