I am searching for any and all information that I can find on Elroy Gowen. I believe that his middle name was Horace and that he was born in Craftsbury Vermont in 1887. He married Maude Alice Estelle. Year and place of marriage unknown. It is believed that they lived in Hardwick Vermont and had 6 children: Leah Gowen, (b.1912), Lincoln Elroy Gowen (b.1913) Wayne Gowen(b.?) (died as a child) Max Gowen(b.1915) Guy William Gowen(b1919) and Winola Gowen. From hardwick they moved to Milton Vermont and Elroy was believed to be in business with a gentleman named John S. Barr and they owned the General Store in town. From here they moved to Concord New Hampshire. Elroy left the family after being in New Hampshire for about a year, and no one ever heard form him again. It is rumored that he went back to Vermont and is buried in a paupers grave some where in the state. Elroy would be my Great Grandfather. If any one has any information or knowledge of my family in Vermont and would be willing to pass it along to me would be greatly appreciated.
