Eugene Bellows of Fairfax, Franklin County Vermont b. June 02, 1829 in either Fairfax or Middlebury, Addison County Seeking anyone who can help connect him to his origins. Family letters generalize that the family came from Belleau, France in the Aisne-Marne area about 40 miles NE of Paris. Traveled as Huguenot refugees into the Netherlands, then to England, where name spellings seem to have evolved to Bellows.. Immigrated from England to Acadia (Maritime Provinces, Canada) in pre-Scots times. During Acadian Diaspora, some to Louisiana (as Belleau). Our branch emigrated to Quebec, Canada and the Lake Champlain area of northwestern Vermont, USA ( as Bellus and Bellows ). Eugene Bellows m. Lucy Cline in Fairfax, January 10, 1846 To date have been unable to locate marriage record which might indicate parentage for both, or any birth records for either. Eugene & Lucy maintained a French-speaking household. They had 12 confirmed children, possibly 15. Of the surviving children remaining in Vermont: Alfred, twins Lucy and Lucia, and Roelgene (or Rogene) we have the associated surnames of DRINKWINE, DUSTIN, FLOOD, MASON, TENANT, PRESTON, WOODWORTH. Seeking any of these who are descendants who can shed light on Eugene and Lucy's origins and our Vermont cousins. Thanks. Lowry lzday@mindspring.com
