Augustus PLACE, born in RI in 1774, was listed in Alburgh, Grand Isle Co., VT, in the 1810 census, and we know that there was an Augustus PLACE in Capt Pettis' company during the War of 1812. But were they the same man? I'd know the answer if I could find out the age at enlistment of the war veteran. Does anyone on the list have the answer? Can anyone point me to a source (preferably on line) where I can get the answer? (I have been searching, unsuccessfuly). I'd be eternally grateful for any assistance offered in this regard.
