I am looking for information on the following surnames: PLACE, NEWELL My ancestors John Place & Lydia Jackson (Garland) Place moved to Colchester about 1790 and had several children. John, a boat builder, and Lydia hailed from eastern New Hampshire. John, Lydia and at least one son (Nathaniel) moved to Washington County, Ohio by 1818, as Ohio records have a recorded marriage for Nathaniel in that year. I'm guessing that other Place sons may have stayed in Vermont, as their are some similarities in given names of Place's in Ohio and Vermont that are unusual (Ransom & Emerson), but that is conjecture at this point. The Place's apparently moved to Vermont with the Newell family of New Hampshire. I don't know if the Newell's also moved on to Ohio or not. Thanks! I have lots of info on Lydia's family - John is our mystery man - parents unknown. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo!
