My G.Grandfather, James Brown RICHARDS, was born in 1820 in Charlotte, Chittendon County, Vermont according to his obituary. Some members of my family have said that his father was John Jay RICHARDS (b.1765; d.1850) and his mother, Charotte (WARD) RICHARDS. Charotte WARDS' father was John WARD and her mother Mary TORREY. I have no documentation or sources for any of this except for G.Grandfather's obituary showing his birth. I've not been successful in obtaining any records from Vermont and now understand from this list that they probably are just not available in that time frame. Does anyone recognize any of those names. Sure could use some help. My father always said the RICHARDS came from Wales, but I wasn't interested in genealogy then so didn't ask questions.
