Public Records, Drawer 33, Montpelier, VT 05633 They don't seem to have many records before 1865 (I haven't had an luck at any rate) but hopefully they would have the ones you are looking for. I have also written to the Town Clerks of all the towns I am interested in. I have received two responses; one said a fire destroyed all the records before 1850+. I did receive a nice letter from one Town Clerk in Shelburne. So far no responses to the several others to whom I wrote over a month ago. SALTUS who was born 11 April, 1877 and the marriage of his parents Edward SALTUS to Mary FIELD LUCIUS just prior to Charles birth? The 1880 census states Charles and Edward were born in Vertmont.
