I failed to attach the note from Ted Richard (skppr641) who was the one asking about his French Canadian family not being present in the 1870 census even though he searched line by line and thought they should have been there. I then replied asking about the soundex. I actually have had success on occasion on the microfilm census records when looking line by line at a smaller town <g> Sorry about the confusion and thanks to all who wrote. Nancy
