--WebTV-Mail-20400-756 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit I have no information about your family but as to what work was available in VT in the early 1800's. There were farmers, of course, doctors, lawyers, ministers, merchants who carded wool, tanning, currying and shoemaking, blacksmiths and plough makers, stores for buying provisions, hat makers, clothiers, grist mills, etc etc. --WebTV-Mail-20400-756 Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Message/RFC822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Received: from mailsorter-101-2.iap.bryant.webtv.net (209.240.198.96) by storefull-116.iap.bryant.webtv.net with WTV-SMTP; Mon, 7 Aug 2000 19:13:35 -0700 (PDT) Return-Path: <VTCHITTE-L-request@rootsweb.com> Received: from lists6.rootsweb.com (lists6.rootsweb.com [63.92.80.125]) by mailsorter-101-2.iap.bryant.webtv.net (8.8.8-wtv-f/ms.dwm.v7+dul2) with ESMTP id TAA10138; Mon, 7 Aug 2000 19:13:33 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from slist@localhost) by lists6.rootsweb.com (8.10.1/8.10.1) id e7825Pe23172; Mon, 7 Aug 2000 19:05:25 -0700 Resent-Date: Mon, 7 Aug 2000 19:05:25 -0700 X-Original-Sender: Klynnstree@gateway.net Mon Aug 7 19:05:25 2000 From: Klynnstree@gateway.net Message-ID: <35.8993491.26c0c4d0@gateway.net> Date: Mon, 7 Aug 2000 22:05:04 EDT Subject: Nathaniel Obadiah Bunker and Lucinda Clemons Old-To: VTCHITTE-L@rootsweb.com MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: Unknown sub 23 Resent-Message-ID: <OzXHK.A.3pF.lr2j5@lists6.rootsweb.com> To: VTCHITTE-L@rootsweb.com Resent-From: VTCHITTE-L@rootsweb.com X-Mailing-List: <VTCHITTE-L@rootsweb.com> archive/latest/730 X-Loop: VTCHITTE-L@rootsweb.com Precedence: list Resent-Sender: VTCHITTE-L-request@rootsweb.com Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any information on this couple or their family. Nathaniel Obadiah Bunker was born around Dec.1804 in Waterbury, Chittenden, VT. He married Lucinda Clemons (birthplace unknown) abt. 1832 in Newton Junction, Rockingham, NH. They had at least three children: Cordelia, Daniel Dominion (married Veldora Amanda Whitcher), Caroline Victoria (Hyram Hoyt Clemons) and possibly a Lucinda. Before December 1838, they moved to Bolton, Quebec, Canada. This family must have stayed in the Bolton area for sometime, because my g-grandfather Charles (Caroline's son) was also born in Bolton. Family history says that the Clemons' were definitely French Canadian and that the Bunker's where Hollander Dutch. Also, can anyone tell me what the attraction was in Vermont and New Hampshire between the years of 1804 and 1842. Caroline's father was born around 1804 in Vermont, married 1832 in New Hampshire and Caroline's husband (Hiram) was born in Barre, Vermont around 1842. What type of work was available in the Chittenden and Washington Co. areas around this time span? I think that I had heard that there were large rock quarries???? Any information would be appreciated! --WebTV-Mail-20400-756--
