Yes I think this is the same couple. Somebody else found Lucy STILES and her brother Jonathan in the same book. I also believe that Jonathan's grandson Edwin G. STILES and ? Lucy's granddaughter Charlotte Elizabeth GODDARD married in Illinois. The problem is documenting the hunches in between. My hunches for John and Lucy GODDARD are that they moved to Barnet, VT, from there to Grafton or Lyman, NH, from there to Milton or Georgia, VT, but I have really no evidence for that. I eventually did find John's son Caleb GODDARD in Georgia, where he left very little evidence and what he left increases the confusion, i.e. he has a Lucy SHAW living with him who is 90 years old in 1850, the right age about to be his mother....If his father John GODDARD died in Milton VT in 1812, did his mother marry a SHAW later? More speculation. What I am really hoping is that somebody else is out there who is working on these lines. Thank you for answering my posting. Are you related?
