    2. John Robinson
    3. I am looking for information about my ancestor, Spellman Morey. The information that I have is that he was born Nov. 28, 1821 in Westford,Chittenden,Vermont. He married Mary Ann Fuller. They had 4 sons and 1 daughter, Arthur Leroy, Phelps J.,Spellman Jackson, Henry E. and Jesse F.(The children were born in NY). I know that Spellman served during the Civil War in the 98th NY CO. G mustered out of Dickinson Center, Franklin, New York. His enlistment records name David F. Morey and Nancy Burdick as his parents, but I am unable to confirm this information. I would greatly appreciate any assistance or any information. I would especially like to confirm Spellman Morey's parents names. Thank you very much. I can be reached at: lyndarobinson@hotmail.com Thanks, Lynda Robinson

    3. My family history (Quevillon dit LaCroix/Cross) says 9 brothers built the Holy Cross Church in Colchester, VT, circa 1830-1850? Many of them are also buried at its graveyard. I'm looking for some sort of church history to prove/disprove this story. Any suggestions? I wrote directly to the church but so far haven't received a response. Deb

    1. Ella J. CUTLER
    2. Searching for information regarding Ella J. CUTLER. According to the IGI she was born in Waitsfield, Vermont, 4 April 1856. Her father was Frederick L. Cutler. Mother was Mary E. Gifford. Ella J. Cutler may have been involved in the Spiritualist movement and may have traveled in the midwest in support of the Spiritualist cause. In later years she referred to herself as Rev. Cutler. Lasst known to be in Galveston, Texas in 1896. Any ideas or thoughts on how I can learn more about Ella J. CUTLER would be greatly appreciated. Her life, did she ever marry, children, family. She is a great mystery! Jean Hurst, PA

My earliest identifiable is Simon Prouty married 1821 in Licking County, Ohio. According to the much later census he was born in NY, probably Ontario County, as there is a big Prouty contingent there. Simon was born ca. 1800, probably of Vermont people. The info that I have points to maybe a Tiras Prouty? I thought if these volumes had 2 generations of descendants following 1791, I might find Simon here. Simeon appears to be a different Prouty male although early scribes may have mispelled. Apparently a large number of former Vermont residents made the trek to Ohio as I have Lydia Bassett born VT who married Simon. Her family tracks to 1621 Plimouth Massachusetts, not the Mayflower but the second boat, the Fortune. One can see from St. Albans TWP and other VT clues that there was a very large movement on the road to Ohio after the Northwest Territory opened up. As you can see, any help would be beneficial and much appreciated. Tom in TX. --------------0BD2D3C49613DD5A42FC324D--

    3. Hi Tom Yes, St. Albans Vermont is in Franklin County and is the County seat. I live 20 miles from St.A. Canandauiga is not in Vt, but is a town in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. The term "sufferer" is new to me--never heard of it. Hope this helps some. The name Prouty is big in Vermont. Lived mostly in the Newport area of Orleans County. Sen Prouty represented Vermont in the US Senate in the 1960's.
