I'm new to this list, and thought that I'd list the surnames that I'm looking for in the Chittenden Co. area--maybe I'll be lucky and find someone who's familiar with these two families. My g-g-grandparents were Henry Drum and Mary Leslie. Other than their names, I don't know anything about them--no parents, siblings, birthdates, etc. Only information I have, is that my g-grandfather, James Leslie Drum was born in Vt. in 1860. During the course of my delving, a letter from a Willis Francis who would be the nephew of my 2g gm, was working on the Francis family shrub and was in communication with my 2g aunt Cora Ufford. In one of the letters, he mentions writing to a cousin whose name was Chittendon and who lives in Vermont. Until recently, this has been just one of those mysteries our predecessors seem to have delighted in leaving us. Recently, I was able to make the connections on our Francis kin back to Robert Francis of Wethersfield, Conn. It turns out that one of Robert's children was a John Francis, b. 1658 d. 1711 who married a Mercy Chittendon, b. circa 1662. d. 1745. I am descended through their son Robert who married Francis Butler. Seeing as how Chittendon is not an often seen name, is it possible that Chittendon county, Vt. may be named after the family of Mercy Chittendon? Or are there any Chittendons still in the county who may know of a relation ship with the Francis' family? Thank you, Vern Hall

Hi List,,, Can someone out there possibly have a death date for this lady from Richmond, Chittenden Co., VT. Elizabeth Lyon b: ca. 1810 m: Joseph Lyon b:ca:1808 NY In 1860 they lived in Richmond. Think she probably died between 1851>>>1858 in Richmond. Joseph evidently remarried about 1858 to an Ellen ?? b:ca. 1830 Ireland, and in 1860 they had a 1 year old son, but they also had a 14 year old girl and a 9 year old boy living with them, think these were Jos. and Elizabeth's children. Believe that Ellen was his second wife. Thanks for any help Barbara

This Web page has been updated as of today, 22-FEB-1999. It now includes household numbers for 1810 and 1820 and name of town for 1790 for each of these households.
