Hi List: Anyone on this list doing research on Bonner? My great grandfather, Alfred A. Bonner was born May 8, 1841 or perhaps 1844, in Hinesburg or Burlington. Two different sources, two different towns. I believe he had a brother named Napoleon born about 1858. Alfred's parents are said to have been John and Mary Boner. So far I have not seen any Bonners or Boners in Chittenden Co. in the 1840, 1850 or 1860 census. His pension file showed that he enlisted in the Army Sept 2, 1861 at Cornwall, Vt. and served with the 5th Vt. Inf. Company F., under Capt. E. S. Stowell. He was discharged July 1, 1862 because of his disabilities. One testimony in his file, given by a wife of someone who knew Alfred indicated he had a wife named Solina and also had a daughter. I am stumpted. I don't have any idea where to look next. Sandy Williams

Hi Don Towns in Franklin, Grand Isle, and parts of Washington and Lamoille counties were all part of Chittenden County in the 1791 census. In the 1800 census, Franklin county was an entity and included Grand Isle County. Dear Michelle, My thanks for your references to the Walpole and Sullivan files; I am familiar with these and others, and they represent my "brick wall", since 1954. I have yet to be able to connect the Eugene Bellows(Bellus) family to the famous Bellows lines whatsoever. If anybody can do that, I'd be eternally grateful. If anyone at this site could even provide one more generation back, I would have hope. Regards and Happy Easter, Lowry
