It's at http://www.geocities.com/mlmckenzie/WalpoleNH.htm I have a transcription of the old Walpole book and also a researchers page where I'd be happy to place a Walpole related query for you. I recently added photos I took in Walpole last month. Michelle McKenzie MLMCKENZIE@prodigy.net http://www.geocities.com/~mlmckenzie/ ----- Original Message ----- From: Lenoard H. 2. Hi, I am trying to find any information about MIDDLETON's and CARPENTER's in Vermont. The earliest ancestor I have is Ezekiel MIDDLETON (1774-1849) who married an Elizabeth CARPENTER (1778-1853). They were married in 1799 in Milton, Chittenden, Vermont. They then moved to Leeds Co., Ontario, Canada. I have much info about them once in Canada but would love to find out more about their family who stayed behind in Vermont. 3. Hi Folks: I ALMOST wish I hadn't told you all how to go about ordering the old newspapers on inter-library loan. After I extracted the year 1830 of the Burlington Sentinel and posted them to the Lists and sent the film back and tried to get the one for 1820-30 I've had no luck. Do you know why?? They are loaned out to others, I guess. Oh well. (I'm grinning!) When and if I get them I will remember my promise to post more extracts for the 1820's. I really enjoy reading them, don't you? And apparently from the messages I recieved they helped some people with their research. That makes it all worth while! If any of you readers of this message just happen to have the film for Chitt., Co. for this time period would you do me a favor please and check for a marriage of Joel Munger and Anna (not sure of maiden surname. I t might be David(s). It would be around 1818-20. He was born abt 1800-1804 and raised in Hinesburgh and Charlotte area where his father Reuben farmed. Joel, wife and two boys and a girl were in the 1830 census for Hinesberg. Children were born between 1820-29. In 1840 they are over in Cayuga Co., NY. Thanks and I appreciate your time and consideration. Joyce Hathaway

Actually, we would prefer to receive the request in the form "newspapers on microfilm covering _____________[town or county] from _____[date] to ____[date]" If we receive the request that way, we can look beyond the actual town and find something nearby that would cover the town for that period. An ALA form can be used, or the request can be through OCLC. Our OCLC symbol is VSL and our mailing address is: Vermont Dept. of Libraries-RLS 109 State St. Montpelier, VT 05609-0601 We will lend up to four reels at a time, for a 30-day time period, at no charge. Would you do me a favor? If you learned of the Vermont Dept. of Libraries' newspapers on a listserv, could you paraphrase my message to you and put it on the listserv? I'd appreciate that. A history of the Batcheller family by Pierce identifies Ebenezer as the son of Benjamin and Anna (Burnap) Batcheller, who moved to Vermont shortly after the Revolutionary War. He further shows Ebenezer as marrying an Elizabeth Kimball (of Canterbury, New Hampshire) in 1821. He lists them as having five children: the first two having birth dates of 1823 and 1826; the other three with birth dates unknown. A history of the Owen family identifies this same Ebenzer as marrying Sabra Hill on 10 February 1831. Sabra was the daughter of Benjamin Hill and Elizabeth Owen Hill of Milton, VT. They moved to Ohio sometime before 1843. Their children were as follows: 1. Wyman, b. 1832 2. Hannah, b. 1833 3. Daniel, b. 1837 4. Lydia, b. 1840 5. Clarissa, b. 1843 6. John, b. 1844 The Batcheller family history shows Ebenzer's date of death as 1867 in Canterbury, New Hampshire. If both of these family histories are accurate, then Ebenezer was married twice and returned to New Hampshire after leaving Vermont for Ohio with his second wife. I don't know where to start looking for records to verify Ebenezer's birth, marriages, divorce, etc. Before I request birth and marriage records from the state of Vermont, I was hoping someone might let me know if records from that era are easily accessible? --part1_32ed42f8.2529f111_boundary--

    3. Dee, GREAT! You have confirmed what I had suspected re Isaac Vanornum. I only recently became aware of the fact that Isaac could be the father of Frederick and grandfather of Theodore. This is a breakthrough and I am delighted. . After searching in IA; MO; KS in addition to IL, I found that Theodore was born in VT, I only had possible OH/VT. Theodore died in Dallas Co. MO in Jan. 1891 at the home of his son Frederick. He was married to an Amanda ??, probably in OH (need to pursue that further now that I have a county) who supposedly died in 1880 in Morgan Co. IL. He had a daughter Lamney Cerilda Van Norman who married our John KAYLOR. I have been doing research for over 25 years and have never actively pursued the Van Norman name until just the last few days, and might I say, with great luck on the Internet. I have never had much time to work on my own families of late, as I maintain two ILGenWeb County Web pages and have several mail lists. I glad I took the time to really delve into this lineage. Thanks for your reply. We need to share Gedcom/files, etc. I am most willing.
