    3. Hello All! I am searching for information about my Great-Grandfather, LAWRENCE HALLIHAN who was born in Burlington in 1854. I see by this forum that he was still in Burlington in 1882. I know he went to Chicago,IL for a Fire Dept. Competition sometime between then & 1900 when he shows up in a Chicago directory. His parents were James Hallihan & Honora Hennessey, from Ireland (don't know where, though). Trying to find that info, plus when & where he died. Pat

    3. Hi, The charter was granted June 24th 1762, by Benning Wentworth, Governor of New Hampshire. The first attempt to settle the town was March 1777. (No permanent settlement was made until 1784.) 2. I had the same problem finding my grandmother's birth certificate, went to the town hall and found it there. Her name was added at a later date into the record and the day of birth was corrected. I suspect the town clerk at the time didn't have to, or was lax in sending vitals to Middlesex. BTW, my grandmother will be 101 in April. Also, even though your ancestor is buried in Charlotte, doesn't mean that he died there. Happy hunting. 3. Please read the following excerpt from Roots Web Review an on-line genealogy news letter. Recently I have seen what appears to be significant amounts of gedcom information coming through the lists causing frustration and unsubscribes on some. World Connect is Rootsweb's site for gedcoms. Here is the information about it. I am not trying to ruffle feathers but thought some might find the information useful. Ann NOTES FROM THE CEO, by Robert R. Tillman o FOLLOW-UP TO LAST WEEK'S WORLDCONNECT ARTICLE. Last week's list of excuses for not uploading a GEDCOM to the WorldConnect Project evidently hit home. The day after ROOTSWEB REVIEW (RWR) was sent, about 350 RootsWeb users uploaded GEDCOMs containing more than 800,000 names to WorldConnect. As of today, there are nearly 19 million names to search on WorldConnect. We hope to top 20 million names by next week. Nevertheless, only about 7,000 GEDCOMs have been uploaded to WorldConnect. (See <http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi> for the exact number.) With the circulation of RWR approaching 400,000, this means that fewer than two percent of you reading this article have uploaded a GEDCOM to WorldConnect. RootsWeb has set a goal of reaching 100 million names uploaded to WorldConnect by the end of 2000. Based on the average number of names uploaded in a GEDCOM to date, if about 40,000 of you (or about 10% of RWR's readers) upload a GEDCOM to WorldConnect before the end of the year, this goal will be achieved. WorldConnect has the potential of growing into one of the most important genealogical resources on the planet, but only if you participate. If you have entered genealogical data into virtually any genealogical software application, you probably can generate a GEDCOM and upload it to <http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/>. If you have any questions about generating, uploading, or editing a GEDCOM file, or if you wish to provide feedback to RootsWeb on how to improve WorldConnect, please post to the WorldConnect Project Suggestion Board at <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/gedcom>.

The marriage repetoir from St. Joseph's in Burlington states they were married July 7th, 1859. It does not list their parents. The repetoir also has an entry following their marrige which states: "journalier de Brandon Vt Temins: Joseph Arpin, Joseph Chatel" I believe Mr. Arpin & Mr. Chatel were witnesses. Does anyone know what the first part of this entry means? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
