Tomorrow we leave for Vermont to meet again with cousins discovered last year around this time thanks to Lizbuff. She helped connect living relatives in Charlotte, Vermont to us in Wisconsin. She helped us find relatives that still have letters written by our gggggrandfathers from Wisconsin in 1850 to their parents living in Charlotte. With this informatoin I was able to find out what parish and townland in Ireland they were from. Thank you Buffy for helping us connect with relatives. I can't wait to be there again. Leaving tomorrow!!!! Researching KEHOE, BYRNES, ect. Pam Kehoe Wisconsin http://www.geocities.com/drk4779

He was the father of three sons; the eldest he was endeavoring to educate at Middlebury college. His means were limited; and his embarrassed circumstances with the loss of his wife and other difficulties, caused a partial derangement of his mind, which resulted in his committing suicide by hanging himself, in the fall of 1813 at the residence of Uzal Piersons. REMINGTON BITGOOD - one of the early settlers in the east part of the town- was the owner of a good farm and accumulated a comfortable estate. He reared up a family of children. HEZEKIAH FLETCHER - a man of singular habits and peculiar notions-living entirely by himself for many years, the derangement and wanderings of his mind led him to commit suicide by cutting his throat with a razor in the spring of 1817. He left one daughter.
After looking at a map of the VT and surrounding areas, was wondering if people coming from Scotland in late l700's and early l800's might have come thru Canada. Has anyone out there done research on this? Joan
I am looking for people connected with Asa Barnes/Lois Yale. They had a son Hezekiah born in 1760. He was a general in the Militia and was involved in Chittenden county politics. I have visited the grave yard where he was buried in Charlotte. I am a direct decendant. Sincerely, Ray Barnes Portsmouth, VA
Searching for parents of Charles A. Johns, born in Huntington, Vermont in 1838 (probably May 1838). He was in Charleston, SC about 1868 and employed as a Shipper for Alva Gage & Co., and died there in 1891. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has data about any Johns family in the 1838-1865 period. Vermont resources in my area are very limited, so don't even have a start - excepting his birthdate. Thanks for any help. Marilyn

Hello, How would I find out who purchased a piece of property from my great great great grandfather Freeman Kinyon? I have a copy of his property deed dated Apr. 10, 1820 for Hinesburg, Vermont? I am trying to figure out when he sold the property and left the area. Any help or ideas welcomed! Sandra

I would sincerely like to thank the people who responded with helpful information, addresses etc to my queries. I now have several new leads to follow up. Thanks again. Pat Smith (Nth Yorkshire) Just an interesting snippet - next week I am meeting a lady from Florida who is visiting England. We have corresponded over the internet for over a year now, I have done research for her in Lancashire and she has helped me with research for my gt grandfather in Texas. She is coming North to spend a few days with us and we are both looking forward to meeting.

An analysis of that census and of the known children of John Kenyon would indicate that Giles had a family at that time with six daughters under 16 years of age. He moved to Voluntown shortly after 1774, as he was not listed in the Rhode Island military census of 1777. He was listed Voluntown, Conn.In the census of 1790 with a family of one male over 16 (Giles), two males under 16, and 4 females.. You could deduce from this that Freeman was born after the Rhode Island census of 1774 and had married (at least, he had left home) by 1790. Since he is not living with his father and does not appear as a head of household in his own right it must be assumed that he was living with his bride's parents. In the states of Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Vermont, I can find but two listings with more than one male over 16. Both are in Orange Co., VT -- Lenox Titus [02 02 02] and Michael Titus {03 03 05]. These would appear to be sons of Ephraim Titus [01 00 01] Sorry, but I can't figure out the township, but I know there were Rhode Islanders in Strafford. John Folsom Orlando, FL
Hello, Does anybody have any information on a Desire Titus marrying a Freeman Kinyon about 1788? Their daughter Olive Kinyon married a Joseph W. Northrop. I believe this family lived in Hinesburg about 1818. Any help or information welcomed! Sandra
Hi Jackie, I can look for the obituary of Edward Saltus for you sometime in the next few days. Also if you still need someone to look for the vital statistic information in your earlier query, I will see what I can do during my trip to Burlington or Middlesex in the next week or so. >>>>>>>>>>>You wrote earlier: Could someone direct me as to how I might find the birth of Charles N. SALTUS who was born 11 April, 1877 and the marriage of his parents Edward SALTUS to Mary FIELD LUCIUS just prior to Charles birth? The 1880 census states Charles and Edward were born in Vertmont. I am guessing around the Burlington area. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lynn

Could some kind researcher help me with an obituary please? Looking for an obituary for EDWARD PETER SALTUS who died in Burlington on Feb. 12, 1938. Thanks very much! Jackie
Does anyone have access to the 1830 and 1840 indexes for State of Vermont? Am looking for Benjamin Watson and Mark Watson - thanks, Joan
Hello, Listers, I am new to your list and am hoping someone can help me out on my rascally BARTONs (I'm already on the Barton list). Andrew BARTON, b. 1775 or 1776, location unk., d. 28 Feb 1826 Enosburgh, Chittenden, VT. He was m. to Mary PEASE (no info about her known). They had a dau, Anna/Anne BARTON, b. 19 Dec 1801, Charlotte, Chittenden. No info on siblings. Anna m. Moses WELLS 04 Dec 1822, Enosburgh. An Andrew BARTON is in the 1800 census for Charlotte; and an Andrew BARTON is in the 1810 Shelburne, Chittenden census. As I wrote above, he d. in Enosburgh and is buried in the North Enosburgh Cemetery...per info from a VT VR index card. Can anyone tell me where in the world to seek info on Andrew? I've already searched the major online databases. Or, if anyone knows anything about this family, all the better. Jane in AZ thaia@goodnet.com
I am heading for Burlington VT this next week and was wondering if anyone can give me any tips on research in that area. My 5th gr-grandparents were Asa and Tryphena (possibly Cutting, but not sure) Johnson. They came from western Massachusetts in early to mid 1790's and left Vermont around 1815 for New York (possibly Chenango County -or- Mohawk Valley region). She may have died there and he migrated west to Illinois. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Karen

Of course, it could well have been Pease, but there were PLACE families in Charlotte and Shelburne from 1790 on (and LOTS of them in Hinesburg). Stand easy -- I'll do some checking on Bartons and Peases up there and I'll get back to you. John Folsom Orlando, FL
