    2. Thomas and Kathleen Martin
    3. A 1791 probate paper refers to Joseph Buck who married Mary (Molly) Martin. At that time Mary's brothers Samuel and Ebenezer Martin, Jr. lived in Jerico and Richmond; and her sister Phebe (Martin) Stinson lived in Bolton. Does anyone have any clue relating to the whereabouts of JOSEPH AND MARY BUCK in Chittendon County? Kathleen Martin

    1. Shaw and Morgan in Colchester, VT
    2. Teddy
    3. Hello List, I'm searching for information of my gggrandmother, Polly SHAW, born 1777, died 2 Mar 1854. Polly married Ebenezer Morgan, born 1770, MA, died 1847. They settled at some point in Colchester, Vermont. Polly and Ebenezer are buried at Mallets Bay Cemetery, Vermont. The only child I've been able to find from the marriage is my ggrandfather, Stephen Morgan, born 1815 in Sudbury, Vermont, later moving to Colchester and died there in 1886. Stephen and his second wife Rhoda Bailey are also buried at Mallets Bay Cemetery. Ebenezer Morgan had a brother, Forest Morgan, born 1774, died 1853. Forest married Olive SHAW, born 1778, died 1861. At some point Forest and Olive Shaw moved from Vermont to Potsdam, NY and there they spent the rest of their days. Was Olive related to Polly? I ask while shrugging my shoulders? :-) Polly Shaw has become one of my brick walls and I've been unable to find more information on her. I've no idea where she was born or who her parents or siblings are. The fact is, Polly Shaw and Ebenezer Morgan have become brick walls as I've not been able to find any other children born to the marriage besides Stephen. Any information would be very much appreciated. Teddy Morgan@15.years.and.I'm.asking.the.same.questions

I purchased a book (at a used book sale) entitled The Fowler Family, A genealogical memoir, ten generations: 1590-1882, by a descendant Matthew Adams Stickney, Garnier & Company Charleston, SC. I need to stop buying books because they are a good buy-makes me always try to find the family! In the book is a listing of the Joshua Chever (m. Eda Atwood of Chester, VT) family. Joshua d. in Colchester, 1874. Children married: Mayo, Severance, Norris, Bingham, Dunbar, Farand, Leonard, Wood, Emerson, Irish. Anyone interested in look-ups, please let me know, but please note that I do not do research myself on any of these families. It is just the info in this book that I have (My father, the college professor, would probably say that I worded that wrong, but hope you got the idea). Ruthie

    2. Hello, Yes the Respite House was built for the care of the teminally ill ( ie cancer etc.) and is located in Williston, VT. It was built about maybe 20 or so years ago. I can't remember the exact date. It is not a nursing home but a home-like atmosphere that provides pt./client care similiar to hospice. Lynn

    1. French of Winooski
    2. Phil Cochran
    3. I was going through a book I have "Histoire de la Congregation Canadienne de Winooski, au Vermont" by J.-F. Audet (the first pastor of St. Francois Xavier in Winooski), which was published in 1906. The following info might be of help to somone. In 1814 these famillies came to Winooski Despins, Cotard & Chaillot. En 1816 Augustin Davignon of Chambly came. In 1826 & 1828 a number of families came from the parishes of Chamb;u. Ste-Marie de Monnoir, St Jean Baptiste de Rouville and alos Vercheres. The Lafontaines, the Damme, the Labossiere, the Leclaire, the Brault, the Goyette, the Domingue, the Picotte, the Pepin, the Foisy, the Allard, the Niquet immigrated during this time. Years later about 1840 to 1845, the Maher, the Villemaire, of St. Henri de Mascouche, the Cormier, the Mongeon, the Lavallee of the Comte de Vercheres. These were the famillies that were listed. There is also an a list of those persons who contributed to the founding of St. Francois between 1868 and 1883. It's to long to list here but if someone wants a name looked up I will be glad to do it. Phil

    3. This sounds much more plausible--that the respite house is a hospice for the terminally ill rather than the poor house. The death and burial records were from early to 1992 so perhaps it is relatively new. Thanks for the quick response.

    3. The Respite House, Williston, VT. 7,800 sf, 14-bed hospice for the terminally ill. Designed in cooperation with Vermont Department of Health to address the lack of terminally ill patient care in the State, the facility complies with Level-3 managed care standards and has many Level-2 Nursing Home features incorporated into the design. That makes it sound like it is newly built? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy Vogt" <nrvogt@webtv.net> To: <VTCHITTE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 25, 2000 11:04 PM Subject: Re: Poor Farm Inn in Colchester > I just read your post.
